The cabin had a unique style and looked better than the pictures. Kitchen is fully stocked with what you would need. The beds are comfortable but the firepit was my favorite. This is a place I would highly recommend.
My partner and I had a great stay! The owner let us check in late, the cabin was well stocked and had wifi! Overall excellent stay and would stay again. 5/5.
My friend and I stayed here on a house hunting trip to the area so acme without horses, but I wish we could have brought them! Very cute, safe area, and extremely convenient to the properties I was researching.
Cabin is adorable. Brenda is very sweet! Close enough if you need anything but it felt as if we had the property to ourselves. Plenty of wildlife to see and hear!
Cabin was very nice, clean, and very secluded! Really not very easy to find, bad cell service there. Have to text the owner to let you in, this is not very convenient need a different system to get access to the rental. Needs a table, no place to eat except for an end table! Very nice and comfortable. Nice swing, fire pit, and picnic table in the yard.
This cabin is well-appointed (kitchen, bath, shower/tub, one bedroom, plus a bed in the loft, linens, modern full-size refrigerator with water and ice, glass-top stove/oven, old-style coffee pot, coffee grinder, slow cooker, instant pot, toaster oven, blender, pots, pans, plates glasses, utensils, washer/dryer combo, Wi-Fi, fire pit, picnic tables, fenced in backyard).
The owner, Brenda, is very nice. We had a few chats over the 2 days. We unintentionally arrived a little early and she was very accomodating.
We stayed a couple of nights with our 2 dogs. The cabin was very clean and a good size for us.
A few things to note:
- It's in the Central Time zone - near ET
- Great area to hike or ride horses
- Essentially, there's little to no cell service in the area, especially Verizon
- AC/Heat - controlled by a remote
- No TV
- No cabin door to the backyard, other than a doggie door. You enter the yard through the outside gate
- It has a gas grill, but we didn't use it, as it was not listed, so we didn't plan to grill
- It also has a hot tub, but couldn't tell if it worked. Again, it wasn't listed, so we didn't plan for it
- Could use a coffee table and/or small kitchen table--it just has a couple of end tables
- Nicely secluded, but seems very safe. Other small cabins are closer to the main road
- Address gets you to the road. You need to drive to the end of the gravel road and the cabin is on the right, just before the private property signs
A good place to stay
Soup to nuts fantastic! The host checked in and offered details and amenities that others leave out. THE CABIN IS COZY! This space was made for great memories! Highly recommend!
Perfect location- we hiked 8 days in Big South Fork and Pickett Parks- explored easily because of central location- cabin was like new and full of character- privacy and solitude- highly recommend
The owner was attentive and made sure we had what we needed. The cabin was very nice and a great place to relax. Located with a lot of things to see and do all around. Designed for people with horses but works great for those of us without horses also. Definitely recommend a stay.
The cabin was great! Super clean and cozy. We stayed here during the No Business 100 trail race and it was the perfect location. Really close Pickett and all the other awesome outdoor attractions in the area. 10/10!
Lots of privacy, yet didn't feel alone in the middle of nowhere. Very hospitable host. Clean cabin and Very Cute. Had everything we needed. For couples looking for separate rooms, the wonderful loft room is up a steep ladder. Farm feel to the facility with a stable, horses, dogs, cats and chickens. My dog loved it too!
The area is beautiful. Right in horse country. Cabin was cozy, and inviting. It's on the line of the two time zones, so you must plan accordingly. Would suggest a small table in the cabin to eat at. There's a lot of sitting space in the living room, just no table for dining. The host was very nice and personable. Would highly recommend staying here.
The reason for my visit was changed, unable to stay during the date range, host answered all my questions.

Spring cleanup needed
Area was nice, but overall not well taken care of...Inside & out. Bldg needed a thorough cleaning. Floors very dirty, place was dusty, left a lot to be desired unfortunately. Hot tub a mess, not usable. Grill was junk ..picnic table rotted out..debris laying around-wire, fence posts, etc in parking area.Yard not raked. No broom, rake, mop available to use. Needs work.
We had this property booked for 3 nights in mid-April. When we arrived, all the doors and windows were open and things were piled up outside. One of the campers told us that the owner was unavailable and that her and her sister agreed to watch the rental and do the cleaning. She told us that the previous renter (a friend of the owner) was a smoker and smoked inside the building (even though the listing says that smoking is only allowed outside), so it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. In her opinion, it was not inhabitable, and they were trying to air it out, but needed to do a deep cleaning and scrub it down before anyone could stay. She said that the owner was aware of the situation and would provide a full refund if we were not willing to stay. Since we don't smoke and can't tolerate the odor, we found another place to stay during our vacation. We're still waiting for our refund. The owner has told us that she would follow up with VRBO support to find out what's taking so long, but her communication is very poor and we're having a hard time getting any answers. Since we didn't actually stay in the cabin, we can't provide any feedback on the rental itself, but we're not impressed with the owner's communication skills. Most of our messages have gone unanswered. It's now been over 3 weeks and we're still awaiting our promised refund. Needless to say we're very frustrated with this whole experience and the way it's been handled.
Private, serene, quiet, and close to Pickett State Park
This small cabin was just what I was looking for. It provides just enough essentials at a great price. It's clean and in great condition, first and foremost. It's in a quiet and peaceful location close to where I wanted to be. And it provides just enough essentials at a great price. The living room furniture was soooo comfortable after a long day of hiking. The leather sofa reclines. And the chair is a super comfortable rocker recliner. I didn't miss not having a TV--for me, I wouldn't have turned it on anyway. I did appreciate the fast WiFi connection. The bed was comfortable. All appliances worked great as expected. The cabin was heated and cooled with a mini-split system located in the living room. There was a space heater in the bedroom, which worked well. I do wish there was a ceiling fan in the bedroom to help distribute the heated air from the space heater. All the heated air from the space heater rose to the top of the room, leaving the bottom half (where the bed was) cool. And I do wish the space heater had a thermostat that auto shut off the heat once the room reached the desired temp. These are minor issues though. I slept soundly. The host was very nice! She was always prompt to respond to all communications. My only issue ---again, which is minor--is that I had to reach out to her in order to learn of how to "check-in." There was no communications sent to me prior to check-in. And there were no instructions listed on the VRBO listing. That said, after I reached out to her, the process became very clear. One more note, the Big South Fork area is remote. Expect and plan on spotty cellular service at best. I had no cellular service upon arrival. However, my GPS worked fine. And wifi worked great on my phone once I was connected at the cabin.
