Tæt på byen

Posted 28-Sep-2016

close to center and yet on a small street

Posted 19-Oct-2015
Pros: Staff, morning breakfast (again, not something glamorous or with a lot of meat, but then again, I am a vegetarian :), placing, terrace.
Cons: Internet connection
Location: hamam - 30 meters from the hotel and very practical-oriented = not luxury touristic, but with the basic services of a hamam.
We had a good experience at Fors, which is a small hotel with small rooms, where one can feel comfortable. Good placement, very close to everything in the old city, and at the same time on a small street with corner fruit&vegetable shops and local eating places. It is not a glamorous place, if this is what one has in mind for a city get-away. But it was a nice place to stay, with nice and helpful staff. Any shortcommings are not something that the hotel can help with - outside noise, windows towards wall. One thing the hotel could improve would be the internet connection, which is very fluctuant.

Gut und günstig in Istanbul

Posted 29-Sep-2015
Pros: Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis
Cons: Frisches Obst zum Frühstück wäre schön.
Location: Ruhige Seitenstraße in Sultanahmet.

Amazingly located

Posted 05-Sep-2014
Pros: Its location, pleasant staff and homely atmosphere.
Cons: It could do with a little more improvement to stop the noise coming from other rooms located on the same floor.
Location: Visiting the historical sites of the city like the Blue Mosque, Bascillica Cistern, Aya Sophia, Grand Bazzar and Kadriga Hammam.
This hotel provides a very warm and home like atmosphere which makes the visitor instantly comfortable and relaxed. The staff are exceedingly helpful and speak reasonably good English and are well conversant. The hotel is clean and the breakfast menu is simple yet highly satisfactory and nourishing. Its location is superb especially for those who intend to visit a traditional Turkish bath as there is an excellent one right up your street. It is close to the old district of Sultanahmet and most of the historical sites like the Bazzar and Cemberlitas Column. Comes highly recommended.

Good location at a good price

Posted 26-Jun-2014
Pros: Good location at a good price. Friendly and good service.
Cons: Nice view on roof, though would be nice if they could improve it. So, clean and maintain the roof and install umbrellas and dining or seats.
Location: Alot of attractions nearby
Good staff. Reasonably good room. Very good breakfast options. Good location.

cheap and in the old part

Posted 27-Oct-2013
Pros: Very near the Turkish baths but they were 50TL a throw. It was clean, cheap(ish) and in the old town. Most of the staff were quite polite and friendly.
Cons: Less furniture in the very small rooms
Location: Reasonably close to the 3 main attractions. Turkish bath next door costs 50TL.3 attendants but took over 2 hrs & had to bang to get out.
The hill up is quite steep upwards (indeed with luggage very steep),no pavement all the way and easy to get lost. The TV seems not to have any relevance as we couldn't find a channel in english. The rooms are very small. We pulled bed out from wall and only just had room to move to toilet. 2 bigger people would have major problems. There is no space to put suitcases. One night a man was watching TV and looked at us and ignored us(when we entered) so I assumed he was a guest and not the receptionist to give us our key. We waited a few minutes for someone to come.In the end I found the bell and pinged it. TV watcher then stood up and asked if we needed help. Most bizarre. Breakfast was adequate but tea and coffee bad.. coffee turned out to be a gold blend machine and the tea was Turkish Black.
