This is the best place for exploring Voyageurs National Park. It's a beautiful hotel/distillery/restaurant in the little village of Ranier. It was the best hotel on our entire vacation. A+
The property is great. It's very nice and clean rooms. The staff was nice. Things to note: the restaurant gets very busy with locals, which made it hard to get seated or served, The other item that was an issue is the hot tub has been closed for a while. It was something we were looking for because we were coming up to do hiking and paddle boarding at Voyageurs and hoped to enjoy after. That shouldn't be an advertised amenity if it's been down with no set repair date. The train tracks run right along the property which did wake me up a few times. Otherwise it's a really cute and clean hotel with nice rooms.
A beautiful place. We had just spent 6 nights in a rustic cabin and arriving at this beautiful place was such a pleasure. The hot tub was not in use and I was looking forward to it after a week of fishing in cold weather, but the claw foot tub in the room made up for it. The tub made showering for my 70 yr old husband a bit of a challenge but we made it work. The restaurant staff, drinks and food were phenomenal. Weird policy of only allowing us to buy one bottle of liquor each when we left, had us baffled considering it is a distillery and hotel.
Although the hotel is next to the railroad track, the noise was not noticeable at night. The hotel provided white noise machine and ear plugs. The food at the hotel was wonderful and the drinks fantastic. The hotel is perfectly located if you want to visit the National Park. It allows you to enjoy the park without roughing it.
My family and I loved it! I stayed here with my parents and we had drinks and shared appetizers at the bar and it was all lovely! I had the pear sage gimlet, it was so good I ordered it twice. The hot tub was another huge win! I was also able to book a massage for my dad at the hotel for an early Father’s Day gift!! We can’t wait to go back!
I loved the location and the convenience of a restaurant/bar right in the hotel! The industrial vibe was so cute, and I found industrial charm on every floor! The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had a comfortable stay. The only "negative" I can say is that the rooftop hot tub was closed when I was there, although it was too chilly during my stay for me to have wanted it anyhow. But I wasn't sure if it was closed for maintenance or due to weather, so I don't really count that against them! Awesome atmosphere and location! As a solo traveler, I never felt uncomfortable. The food and drinks were top notch! I tried a variety of items during my stay; they were all delicious! The bartender, Dakota, was lovely to chat with as well. Five stars from me! Will definitely be back.
Likes: stylish hotel, clean spacious rooms, tasty food in bar/restaurant, rooftop hot tub area is a nice place to relax, coffee station on each floor was a treat, easy drive to Voyageurs National Park. Dislikes: dim lighting in rooms and hallways, claw-foot bathtub looks nice but was difficult to get into and out of, noise from nearby trains in early morning. Overall, the likes outweighed the dislikes, and we’d definitely consider the hotel again if in the area.
Unique concept with an upscale feel. Room had a view of the lake. Drinks and food were great except not a lot of options for those who don’t eat dairy or meat. Waited for over an hour and couldn’t get the sauna to get to a comfortable temperature.
