Of course, limiting yourself to only one place, no matter how popular, will only ever provide you with a limited view into the wider qualities of a region. So allow time to enjoy Saga 's other sights and attractions. Sasebo Harbor and Saikai National Park in and around Sasebo, are excellent to visit. Sasebo, is roughly 11 miles (18 kilometers) away from Imari. A drive to Karatsu is another interesting option. It's 14 miles (23 kilometers) away from Imari and is home to the Hikiyama Exhibition Hall and Karatsu Castle.
Nagasaki, is another good spot to visit. It is approximately 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Imari and offers a number of interesting things to see and do, such as Peace Park, Confucius Shrine and Nyoko-do Hermitage. Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium, Sanno Shrine and Suwa Shrine are some more places definitely worth visiting for those who find themselves with time to spare.
Travel encompasses so much more than simply seeing the sights, it's also about the words, stories and ideas of a region. Your time in Imari will become much more meaningful if you make the effort to try some handy words, sayings and salutations in Japanese. "Isshoni odorimasenka?" ("Would you like to dance with me?") is useful. And, for "Where's the toilet?", you can use "Benjo wa doko desu ka?" Don't be shy, just give it a spin!
