With buildings dating back to the time of the Domesday Book, the cottages are able to combine period charm with modern day elegance, think wood beans meet contemporary decor. Dolly's Barn sleeps 11 (+ cot) in six bedrooms, and provides the ultimate get away cottage for large families, and groups of friends - all set in a property full of period features. Lovingly restored the cottage sits within 3.5 acres of communal gardens and paddocks, making it the perfect property to escape to the country. With its excellent location, it is easy to explore North Devon and beyond from Higher Mullacott Farm. There is even a children's play area onsite for the little ones to enjoy. The beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are all less than a 15 minute drive, and Exmoor with its pretty villages and rugged landscape is half an hour away. Ideal for larger family groups and celebrations, Dolly's Barn has plenty of space and character with sloping ceilings, beams and stone walls that beautifully combine with modern elegance. Less able bodied guests can also enjoy the cottage with a downstairs double bedroom complete with en-suite shower room. The large open plan lounge/kitchen area has three large comfortable sofas clustered around a LPG wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large range electric oven and two fridges, meals can then be enjoyed at the wooden dining table, which easily seats the whole family for relaxed meals or special occasions. Upstairs, there are five further bedrooms, a double with en-suite bathroom, two pretty twin bedrooms, a lovely single with Victorian style day bed, and the Master Bedroom featuring a king-size bed and en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom with bath and electric shower. Outside the cottage there are places to enjoy alfresco meals or watch children play. For groups of up to 17, Dolly's Barn can be rented with its sister cottage Aggie's that sleeps up to six in three bedrooms and is located just across the courtyard. The kitchen/lounge spaced worked really well for us as we were able to keep an eye on the little ones whilst we cooked etc. The kitchen was really well stocked with all the equipment you could possibly need. The outside space was beautiful and very peaceful. The kids loved running around the play area, it provided lots of entertainment. Location was great, short drive to both Ilfracombe and Woolacombe and quick drive to a big shop. We enjoyed our stay at the farm which was partly because we had such lovely weather. The facilities were generally good but we felt that supplying enough toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets for the stay would have cost nothing and been a blessing! Also part of the the children's play equipment was broken when we arrived ( the little child swing) and should have been checked as it could have potentially been dangerous. The gardens are fabulous with so much for the kids to explore, it gave them a real sense of freedom and was priceless. The facilities are very good and almost everything you need for a great holiday is provided One bedroom however was basically un-useable as it had a very high skylight window with no blinds. Also be warned if you have an infant, the cot is a travel cot with only the hard base, you'll need to take a mattress as there isn't one provided. The outside space can be a bit difficult if one of your party is elderly or has a disability as the cobbles are obviously very old and uneven. There were 15 of us with quite a bit of rubbish, we used the recycling like they asked but the bin was just overflowing, other rubbish had to go into 1 dustbin which was shared between us and another cottage, so 25 people in all, after the people in the other cottage left on the friday that bin was overflowing with their rubbish, we had nowhere to put ours when we cleared up. I found this quite disgusting. You also have to be wary of the owners cat, it sneaked in every time the door was opened and would lie on beds and furniture, we actually found cat hairs in the kitchen. A cosy communal kitchen/lounge and a spacious bedroom/bathroom downstairs - which is great for anyone with more limited mobility. And plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs too. The gardens are extensive and beautiful - with a large play area with play frames, football nets, table tennis and swing ball - and gorgeous areas to sit and admire the amazing views. The location is great - only 5-10 mins drive from Ilfracombe and Woolacombe, where you can enjoy the stunning beaches and learn to surf! Comfortable and well equipped. The children loved the play area in the garden, shame the weather didn’t allow us to spend more time in the beautiful garden. Our first trip to Devon and we found this to be a great location within easy reach of most attractions. A few cobwebs here and there and larger towels would be nice but overall a wonderful place to spend our holiday. ##### Sally M. Extensive garden with play area, picnic benches, bbq and summer house, very relaxing. Such a nice welcome from the owner, and a cream tea!
