"It is a nice, quiet break in the madness of the valley. The gardens are as advertised, the food was fine, the staff was helpful. Like everything in Morocco at this price point, it is old and dirty if you start to look in the corners or try to use the facilities. Totally adequate for what it is."

"We stayed for a few nights as a family with two young kids and loved the farm environment with its playground and games like football and table tennis. The family room was lovely, with beautiful gardens, hot showers, and very comfortable beds. Breakfast on the sun terrace was delicious and set us up perfectly for the day. We did a guided walk in the area and also spent time relaxing by the river near the restaurant. Do bring paints or pens for the kids, as there isnā€™t much else to do nearby...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Ighrem N'Ougdal?
The best area to stay in Ighrem N'Ougdal is within the kasbah itself, or in one of the guesthouses directly bordering it.

The Kasbah of Ighrem N'Ougdal is the heart of the village, a historic fortified mud-brick settlement. Its narrow, winding paths lead to small squares, and many guesthouses are converted traditional homes, offering views of the surrounding palm groves and the Ounila Valley. This area provides an authentic experience of Berber architecture and village life.

For couples looking for a romantic and secluded escape, staying within the kasbah offers a great experience. You'll find guesthouses with courtyards, rooftop terraces for stargazing, and an intimate setting away from larger towns. The quiet evenings and traditional meals served in these guesthouses create a memorable stay.

Solo travellers seeking a cultural experience and a connection with local life will also find the kasbah ideal. Many guesthouses offer communal dining, which is a great way to meet other travellers and share stories.
When is the best time to go to Ighrem N'Ougdal?

These shoulder seasons offer pleasant temperatures, making it comfortable to explore the area's natural beauty and kasbahs. You'll find the weather ideal for outdoor activities like hiking in the Atlas Mountains or exploring the Draa Valley without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter.

For those looking to enjoy the desert scenery and outdoor adventures, these months provide clear skies and comfortable conditions for camel treks and stargazing.
