The Swedish town of Huskvarna is mostly known for the electrics company Husqvarna. This 300year old company is one of the oldest and most nuanced in the world.

Huskvarna has a rich industrial history because of Husqvarna, which makes this a fascinating destination for anyone interested in industry and history. But that's not all you can expect from your weekend in Huskvarna. The town is surrounded by beautiful nature and you can explore cobblestone streets and picturesque old houses, go for a day at the beach or sample the particular stripy, local peppermint flavoured sweet known as "polkagris".

Huskvarna is now a part of the greater city of Jonkoping in southern Sweden. You'll find plenty to see and do during your holiday in Huskvarna. Jonkoping Airport is only about 15 minutes from Huskvarna, and there are lots of trains and buses that will take you to Huskvarna from most of the major cities in Sweden.

Plan a visit to the museum Husqvarna Fabriksmuseum and listen to the unique story behind the 300 year old producer of a wide array of electrical household items. Go for a relaxing stroll through the historic village of Smedbyn, where several craftspeople still create their art in charming old red houses and where you can visit the gallery Galleri Smedbyn. Admire the gorgeous garden at Brunnstorps Gard and sit down to enjoy a cup of coffee before you visit the nearby town of Granna for even more samples of your new favourite sweet "polkagris". You can take public transport to Granna or drive yourself along the beautiful banks of Lake Vattern. If you still want more history, don't miss out on exploring the remains of the 14th century fortress of Rumlaborg.

A weekend trip to Huskvarna is sure to quench your thirst for Swedish history, and you can easily get around the short distances between the attractions in the area.

The charming and cosy environment of Huskvarna is guaranteed to bring peace and quiet to your stay, but you'll also find lots of exciting activities for the whole family and plenty of accommodation to choose from. You'll certainly experience the typical small town life in Sweden during your stay in Huskvarna!

Basic, but affordable
"Booked to go to an expo near by, the hotel was one of the few affordable options. Booking two triple rooms for 4 of us and then requested sheets and cleaning, which were extra costs paid locally. The entry information needs to be requested in advance, but there was a member of staff at reception ..."
