The ship sank with all 20 souls aboard and remained undiscovered until 2000. Carruthers Cottage honors the SS James Carruthers, which also disappeared during that same storm. Its wreck has never been found, but debris came ashore near Point Clark, tying this peaceful town to a powerful piece of maritime history.
