Crowne Plaza Huangshan Yucheng by IHG

8/10 Good

"We recently stayed at this hotel and while the dining staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and the hotel is situated at a nice location with good surrounding environment. Our room experience was disappointing. We booked a non-smoking room, but the smell of smoke was so strong it woke us up during the night. The staff offered to move us to a higher floor, but it wasn't really an upgrade, and the smoke smell continued. We even had to open the porch door in the middle of the night just to get fresh air. At checkout, when we shared our experience, the explanation felt dismissive, saying they couldn't control other guests. We expected a clean non-smoking room and we did not get it."

8/10 Good

"The room was very clean, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall, the service was good, and the breakfast tasted quite good as well. However, there was one issue that left me somewhat disappointed. After having breakfast one morning, I developed diarrhea. Although I cannot say for certain that it was caused by the breakfast, I did not eat anything unusual that day other than the breakfast, so I was concerned that it might have been related to the food, especially the desserts, which may not have been fresh or properly stored. I reported the situation to the front desk and hoped that they would take my concern seriously and at least express some concern. Unfortunately, instead of apologizing or showing concern, the staff repeatedly suggested that I might have eaten something cold and that this was the reason I became sick. I found this response rather disappointing. I am not trying to unfairly blame the hotel. I simply hope that the hotel will take guests’ concerns seriously, especially when they involve food safety. Even if the exact cause cannot be determined, I believe it would be appropriate to show concern, offer an apology, and carefully check the quality, freshness, and storage of the breakfast items. I hope the hotel will strengthen its management of breakfast foods, especially desserts, to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Huizhou District?

The best time to visit Huizhou District is during the spring (late March to May) and autumn (September to early November) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the district's natural beauty and historic sites. Spring brings milder temperatures and blooming landscapes, while autumn provides clear skies and comfortable conditions for outdoor activities without the intense heat or humidity of summer.

For those interested in hiking and outdoor pursuits, the autumn months are particularly good. The cooler, drier air makes walking the trails around the Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) more enjoyable. Additionally, the autumn foliage can be quite beautiful, adding to the scenic experience.

Travellers looking for a more relaxed trip focused on cultural exploration might prefer spring. The gentle weather is ideal for wandering through the ancient villages and enjoying the local tea plantations.
