About this property
Beautiful Waterfront Hubbard Lake Cottage #3
West Wind Cottages are nestled on the picturesque Hubbard Lake, the largest inland body of water in Northeast Michigan, spanning 8,800 acres of deep, spring-fed waters ideal for swimming, boating, and fishing. Nature enthusiasts will be captivated by the scenic splendor of Alcona County's forests and hills. Nearby, hunters can find abundant deer, turkey, and small game, while golfers have several challenging courses at their disposal. On clear nights, stargazers are treated to a celestial display reminiscent of a planetarium, with the northern lights, Starlink satellites, and meteors occasionally visible.
The cottages, crafted from cedar log quarters, exude a warm, rustic country charm. Features include a screened porch, skylights, ceiling fan, and a wood-burning stove, perfect for cooler days and nights. Each cottage is fully equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and shower.
Just 75 feet from your cottage, you'll find excellent swimming conditions in crystal-clear water with a sand/cobblestone mix shoreline that transitions to a sandy lakefront bottom, as well as superb spots for boating and fishing for walleye, perch, pike, trout, and world-class smallmouth bass.
Within a 5-15 minute drive, amenities such as a marina, gas station, parks, general stores, championship golf courses, restaurants, and bars are accessible.
A 20-30 minute journey provides access to thousands of acres of public land, Reid & Hoist Lakes foot trails, the maritime city of Alpena with its museums and shipwrecks, Harrisville boat harbor, Lake Huron, and the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse & Museum.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday with my daughter and her partner! We were able to bring my dog, and the property was perfect for our needs.
This was a perfect little overnight spot for me traveling through. The view of the lake was amazing and the water was crystal clear. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He even made restaurant suggestions and checked in on me when I arrived. The cottage was very clean and had nice windows with breeze flowing throughout.
We had to come stay last min on a holiday week and the owner was more than accommodating with our dog and parking for our trailer! Even more so the place is on a beautiful location on a beautiful lake! We rented Pontoons and enjoyed every minute of our time there!!! The playground for our kids was the highlight of the trip for my kids! Will for sure plan to return! So glad we found this place and saved our family vacation!
Perfect location for all things outdoors - boating, running, hiking, swimming.
The fish didn't want to bite, but we still had a great time. And the hosts are just lovely, welcoming, and always available to help and answer questions! Thank you so much!
Did not know there would be no bath towels or sheets on the bed , Had to drive into Alpena 30 min away to but towels wash cloth and sheets , was not happy about that
Our cabin was nice, simple and clean . Bedrooms nice, common area nice . Shower was a good one. John supplied the wood for indoor wood burning stove ( the source of heat for the cabin) . We needed to bring up our own wood for outdoor fire pit. We rented his pontoon for the day , easy to use .. super fun. Will be back .
This is a simple cabin with all the necessities that you need except for sheets😂. The view of the water is gorgeous and the renting the pontoon boat is a must. Overall, a very nice place to get away.
Good cabins, clean and nice. 4 people comfotably, 6 would be tight. Limited parking, not great accommadations fot a larger boat and lacks enough electrical outlets for modern electronics. Overall very nice.
We had to reschedule our time due to a family member’s health condition and John was able to accommodate us. Also I left my laptop there and the house keeper left her contact information and my sister was able to get it and send it to me.
Nice cottage on the water. We enjoyed our time up there. Was a bit windy while we were staying up here but still a nice little town. John is very easy to communicate with and gets back with right away. We would stay up here again!!
What a wonderful place for a fall het away. Mere feet from the lake, a beautiful view. We were looking to get away for an early Fall-ish vacation and couldn’t have picked a better property. The owner was very friendly, and dod a great job at communicating with us. The cabin was clean and comfortable with everything we needed to get away and unwind. Would absolutely stay here again.
You can't beat this cabin for the price. Very comfortable, even with the other cabins full it was nice and peaceful. The owner came and made sure I knew how to use the wood stove (it was freezing that weekend). Kitchen had anything you may need to enjoy your stay, grill outside. I'd love to come back up and stay later in the summer when its warmer!
Relaxing is not a big enough word. We rented one of the pontoons for 2 days, water is clean and clear. Lake was calm and beautiful surrounded completely by nature. Cottage was rustic but exactly what we were looking for. Peaceful beyond belief.
Lake is beautiful and cabins are all knotted pine.
We had fun here. Just wish the weather was warmer when we rented the pontoon boat. But Hubbard Lake has always been my favorite lake. Cabins were cozy and loved the swimming and fishing accommodations.
