Nice resort in remote fishing village

Posted 09-Feb-2017
Pros: The two-bedroom, two-bath room was nicely appointed. Beds and linens were of nice quality. The pools and beach were well kept.
Cons: Housekeeping could spray for cockroaches. The dock is in need of repair. Television reception could be much better.
We enjoyed our week at Jaquar Reef and would recommend it to others visiting Hopkins. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dennis, Larry and Charlie went out of their way to share their knowledge of the local community and to make sure we took full advantage of the resort. The restaurant had limited choices at high prices so we ate most of our meals at other resorts or in Hopkins. Excellent food at reasonable prices outside the resort! Enjoy the free kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles! The beach is beautiful and quiet.

Very nice hotel, right on the beach.

Posted 12-Dec-2016
Pros: Great facilities.
Cons: More experienced staff.
Location: Hopkins is a small Garifuna fishing village. Local activities include world class fishing, scuba, snorkeling, jungle hiking, waterfall tours, etc.
Great facilities. Nice mix of amenities, including a pier, hammocks, beach lounging areas, a tiki bar incorporated into an infinity pool. Excellent rooms with air conditioning, nice bathrooms, great kitchen and comfortable mattresses. Only slight downside is related to the staff and restaurant, which suffer from inexperience. They all were very nice and helpful, they just were not up to the standard set by other facilities in the same area.

Room was unique and very clean

Posted 11-Dec-2016
The water dispenser was a nice touch to add to the room extremely close to a groomed beach and over all a very nice resort with a well managed restaurant the only complaint would be to change the mattress as the body support of the mattress was none existent

Excellent Hotel Right on the Beach

Posted 10-Dec-2016
Pros: Everything.
Location: It is right on the beach and there are good eateries nearby, some with Garifuna music.
Our room was spacious, clean, and 100 feet from the beach. There were flowers on the bed as well as a towel shaped to form a heart. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given a delicious welcome drink called purple rain, which the bartender said had been created at the Jaguar Reef Lodge. It consisted of dragon fruit juice, lime juice, and two kinds of room. I think we will try to recreate it at home. There was also a complimentary pint of Belizean rum in the room, with a bottle of coca-cola as a mixer. We are not fond of Cuba libres and asked for a different mixer; the staff said we could have whatever we wanted and we settled on lime juice. We had a wonderful stay at the Jaguar Reef Lodge.

A real dreamy spot right on the beach

Posted 05-Dec-2016
A good value for luxury accommodations with all the perks and also able to take in the local community without the feeling of being trapped at a mega resort. Dennis & Captain Larry especially made us feel right at home🙏❤️👌

Great resort, so much to do. Snorkeling, kayaks, swimming, and bicycles all available. Staff is helpful and town is close enough without being too close.

Relaxing

Posted 24-Nov-2016
Pros: The quietness and staff. Both were amazing. I liked how they shared their culture and openly talked about what it means to be Belizian.
Cons: Having access to wash cloths and training a certain waitress in how to address customers.
With the exception of one waitress everyone was great. Staff is friendly and accommodating. One waitress made it a point to make my 12 year old son feel bad about ordering the wrong thing off the menu. She than proceed to carry the attitude by throwing my food out when I was not finished with my meal as well as making rude comments when there were questions about the bill. The food was great but limited. They do not have a lot of options to choose from and often ran out of the items of the menu. I enjoyed the quietness and relaxation of the beach. The convenient access to transportation for the different activities throughout the city was also a plus. Overall the stay was great and will recommend this place to friends, family, and strangers.
