A real dreamy spot right on the beach

Posted 05-Dec-2016
A good value for luxury accommodations with all the perks and also able to take in the local community without the feeling of being trapped at a mega resort. Dennis & Captain Larry especially made us feel right at home🙏❤️👌

Wonderful setting-

Great resort, so much to do. Snorkeling, kayaks, swimming, and bicycles all available. Staff is helpful and town is close enough without being too close.

Relaxing

Posted 24-Nov-2016
Pros: The quietness and staff. Both were amazing. I liked how they shared their culture and openly talked about what it means to be Belizian.
Cons: Having access to wash cloths and training a certain waitress in how to address customers.
With the exception of one waitress everyone was great. Staff is friendly and accommodating. One waitress made it a point to make my 12 year old son feel bad about ordering the wrong thing off the menu. She than proceed to carry the attitude by throwing my food out when I was not finished with my meal as well as making rude comments when there were questions about the bill. The food was great but limited. They do not have a lot of options to choose from and often ran out of the items of the menu. I enjoyed the quietness and relaxation of the beach. The convenient access to transportation for the different activities throughout the city was also a plus. Overall the stay was great and will recommend this place to friends, family, and strangers.

Would NOT recommend this Resort.

The food is over priced & over cooked, so I would suggest venturing out to local restaurants. Excursions are overpriced as well. My favorite part was probably the bedbugs. As for the staff, all were truly great. Right down to room service. They & the locals are quite finally anywhere you go. WiFi was a hit or miss.

Would stay here again and again

Posted 09-Nov-2016
Pros: The entire resort and it's ambiance was the best! The top notch staff made the stay very enjoyable! I can't say enough nice things about the resort and I have nothing bad to say about our stay there!
Cons: The only thing that is worth mentioning is that the bed I stayed on was a bit firmer than I like, however that did not affect my sleep. I just want to put that out there for those who are wondering about the bed's firmness. Also the bed rooms weren't very dark at night, they only have one layer of curtain for privacy and with all the exterior lights lit most of the night it was hard to get the room to a dark level that I prefer. That being said I did enough activities every day that I slept well even with all the light.
Location: The location is off the beaten path, near other resorts so plenty of eating options, most places take credit here but bring cash. Perfect beach!

The staff were incredibly friendly- service great!

Location: Off the beaten path, Hopkins is a great location to experience Belize as the locals do. Gorgeous! My only word warning - don't take the Coastal Hwy!!!
I picked this hotel off the Internet and was truly impressed by the service and accommodations. Very friendly and responsive staff - and a very relaxing and secluded environment. I will definitely be back to the Jaguar Reef!

Very accommodating

Pros: Right on the beach with great views
Cons: The menu prices were in US Dollars but when my credit card was charged it was in Belize dollars. It was confusing.
Location: Several other hotels within walking distance.
Everything was so easy and convenient. The only thing was it took long for us to get our food in dining room.

Getting away from it all in luxury and simplicity

Posted 17-Oct-2016
Pros: I loved the open plan lobby and dining area that gave you a full view of the wonderful dramatic palm filled coast. Happy and accomadating staff.
Cons: Could have better food at the dining area. Showers and cable reception could do with an upgrade.
Location: Hopkins is a really small village and the lodge is located on the outskirts of it. Rent a golf cart and explore the village and it's friendly locals
Great place to get away from it all. On entry the hotel lobby is warm inviting and spacious. The friendly hotel staff greet you with a complimentary welcoming drink and a moment to take in the beautifully weaved straw chandeliers and cool ocean breeze in the high roofed , open space big windowed lobby and dining area. After a quick walk through of the lodge property and acclimatization of the area, you are shown to your large thatched rooved room/bungalow that also includes a little patio area with chairs and a hammock. Here you can sit and enjoy the passing iguana's, cheerful birds and accommodating staff while sipping on a local rum. The rooms have a really comfy bed, wi-fi, coffee machine, refrigerator and tv with full cable. Beautiful traditional artwork adorn the walls and all in all, it's a really comfy place. The beach and pool area is only steps away from any location of this quaint lodge. The highlight of it all was the ever helpful, always cheerful, never stop running beach Captain Larry. From bringing fresh towels to chopping down a coconut to drink it's water, Larry's main objective was to make sure you were comfortable, happy and relaxed. And he did this ten fold. The lodge offers all the adventure sports plus complimentary bicycles, kayaks and stand up paddle boards In a nutshell, very little is left to spare here. You can do everything and nothing and love it all.

One of the best!

Definitely a great resort, extremely friendly staff, very peaceful and relaxing, not to mention the incredible views! Pros: Rooms were big enough and got all you need to feel at home, they're like apartments (we stayed in a family room ) Cons: The food at the resort is overpriced for what you get (quantity/quality) Theres very little to do around if youre planning on doing activities because everything is far away as theyre half day trips.
