Beautiful property, Exceptional staff

Posted 29-Nov-2017
Pros: The staff at this property are the stars. I could go on for days about them. I feel like I left friends.
Cons: I would say the coffee shop.
Location: It's right on the beach and within walking distance to several very delicious restaurants- both fine dining and casual and all types of food.
This property is first rate. I would stay here again without a doubt. The grounds are breathtaking and right on the beach with plenty of hammocks and beach chairs to lay out and relax. The food was delicious at the restaurant. The room was large and clean. All of that alone would have me stay again, but the real stars of this property are the staff. They are so friendly, courteous, and helpful that at times I was actually taken aback by their kindness. Every single one takes the time to remember your name and go out of their way to greet you. They always took that extra step to make sure I was happy and comfortable and having the best time. Darwin, who works in guest services, seemed to always be right there when I needed something. He was exceptional- professional, knowledgeable, and had whatever I needed- whether it be bug spray or a dinner recommendation. Captain Larry and Dennis the Menace (the coconut boss), both beach captains, were also exemplary. Every day, patrolling the beach keeping everyone laughing, happy, and full of fresh-off-the-tree coconut water. They were so sincerely friendly and did whatever they could to make sure you relaxed in the best possible way. It was impossible not to smile when you saw them coming your way. Raoul, the bartender at the swim up bar, was also a treat- mixing up fun, fresh drinks and keeping us laughing and talking poolside. And every morning, Edison and Osmani were waiting with smiles to fill us up with coffee and breakfast.

Best resort North Hopkins area has to offer

Posted 27-Aug-2017
Location: Nearby musts: Chicken (where the staff has lunch), Loggerhead (owned by an expat with the BEST local staff around).
We arrived WAY before check-in time at around 9am after having been travelling since midnight. The driver from Dangriga airport (Blaine) was fantastic. He provided little bits of information on what we were seeing in the 35 minute drive to the resort. When we arrived, the front desk staff was on point. A little too aggressive with wanting to do an initial orientation, but once they realized we had been travelling since 12am, they dialed it back and promptly set us up with a "temporary" room for us to nap in until our beach front cabana was ready to go. I cannot tell you how deeply appreciative we were for this! The staff took every opportunity to make sure we felt like they were here for us. By day two it seemed as though everyone knew us by name. Pleasantries and tongue in cheek banter became to be expected and down right appreciated. The staff were the perfect mix of personable and hospitable. Imagine the show "Cheers" if set in the Caribbean! A couple shout outs to the staff members who made the biggest impressions: Ivan, Charlie, Andy, Dennis, Capt. Larry, Blaine, Capt. Nick... these guys made each moment and contact with them memorable and outstanding. So much warmth, good humor, knowledge and sincerity. Whether eating in the Paddle House, lounging at the pool, taking a snorkeling trip, or just providing a big happy to see you smile, they were all 5-Star!! We will be back next year, most definitely!

Great resort in a sleepy fishing village

Posted 23-Aug-2017
Pros: location, staff and facilities, as well as surrounding restaurants
Cons: be more upfront regarding impact of renovation on guests.
Location: went reef fishing using traditional hand lines, and caught a lot of snapper. Chef in restaurant fixed a wonderful meal with our fish.
Great resort with many restaurants within walking distant. Staff was great, extremely personable, and attentive to our needs. Only issue was noise associated with major renovation project. Workers started at 6:10 AM and often worked until 8PM. Staff responded well to issues within their limited control.

Friendliest staff, and town I've ever seen.

Posted 17-Aug-2017
I truly didn't know there was a place on earth with an entire town of people this friendly. The resort was wonderful - right on the beach, walking distance to town, long list of activities. We kayak'd into town, asked those sitting at the local clinic to keep an eye on it - collectively they said not to worry about it, nothing will be taken. We came back 2 hours later - life jackets, paddles, everything was still there. The resort was well cared for, weather perfect - rainy season, but only rained at night. I highly recommend Jaguar Reef resort.

Good choice

Posted 08-Aug-2017
We enjoyed the pool, the restaurant and the staff. Our room was comfortable, but not the best location. The noise from the road in the back of our duplex began very early. The construction on the property was probably necessary, but still annoying and started early also. Still we do recommend the resort and would go back.

Mother/daughter trip

Posted 06-Aug-2017
We enjoyed everything except the food. We walked to other resorts, down the street to a couple of close restaurants or went into the little village. We enjoy eating where the locals eat...Other guests said they thought the food at the resort was fine though. Beautiful view from the pool. Excellent tour guides for our Maya ruins and cave tubing!

Beautiful hotel right on the water

Posted 23-Jul-2017
Pros: Full access to the beach, free use of water boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear. Rooms were very beautifully done and arranged in a nice way for families
Cons: Dinner at the restaurant was not up to par with the rest of the service, but we may have just hit an off night.
Location: Hotel is right on the beach in a remote part of Belize, with access to jungle hiking, tubing, zip-lines, snorkeling, and beautiful peaceful beaches.
This place was lovely and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests. For example, they arranged a snorkeling trip for Monday (even though that's typically the day when no such trips are scheduled).

What a wonderful experience!

Posted 09-Jun-2017
Pros: Everything!
Cons: There were some activities going on that we weren't aware of.Maybe a weekly newsletter delivered to each room with a list of the activities would help
The rooms are just perfect! We had a beach access room, and it had a breathtaking view! Even the beach view rooms were pretty close to the beach, you can't go wrong with those either! The staff always went above and beyond. They were so friendly! The did everything they could to make sure we were having a wonderful time!
