Much more then I expected

Posted 27-Jan-2016
Pros: Location, the staff, how clean and well kept it is. The adventures available from the resort.
Cons: The restaurant could lower the prices
Location: Everything you could possibly want to do is just right there. Snorkeling, diving, caves, waterfalls, hikes, zip lines, river boating, paddle boarding
Our stay at the resort was the highlight of our trip to Belize. The staff are the highest in quality and friendliness. The resort it self was a wonderful place to rest and relax after a day of adventures of snorkeling, zip lines, cave tubing or seeing the ruins. The food was good but I felt overpriced so we enjoyed leaving and finding other places to eat.

Nice resort, but not for the faint of heart

Posted 06-Jan-2016
Pros: The beach and low occupancy was great
Cons: The price of food was out of line.
Location: The resort was great other than the food. Much better places to eat. Got to town and each at the local restaurants.
I traveled around Belize for just over 10 days. I stayed at several towns and places and many resorts. This was the nicest by far. It had a fabulous beach and low occupancy so things were not too busy. There was a downside. Most places I stayed at included the 12.5% gst in their food prices. This place the gst was extra and then they charged a 10 percent resort fee which was additional. The price for a few beer and two plates of fish and chips ended up at 60 US dollars. I think the resort was great but after the price of food I ate out the rest of my stay.

On the beach!

Posted 27-Dec-2015
Pros: The location, the staff, the pool bar and the multitude of tours available.
Cons: More info provided on the tours. Prices given didn't include tax and the resort fee that is added to everything! Beware of the sand flees!
Location: Cabanas nicely situated near the beach, dining hall, pools and other eating establishments like Chef Rob's.
Location, Location, Location. Right on the beach with the best staff.

Beautiful Location and People

Posted 18-Nov-2015
Pros: Nice layout, quite, good food, beautiful people and fun things to do.
Cons: The beds were not very comfortable.
Location: Great location for anything to do.
You cant beat a vacation in Belize. The people are so welcoming and warm. It rained most of the days we were there but it was still refreshing to get away from the hustle of life in the states and enjoy a more natural way of life. The food was delicious as well.

Nice Beach Getaway for Couples or a Group

Posted 09-Nov-2015
The drive to and through Hopkins is rough, but upon walking up to Jaguar Reef the landscaping sets the tone for the great time ahead of you. The locals are great, the local food is great, the Hotel employees are great, the rooms/cabins are great. For my wife and I, Hopkins will be our go-to village for the beach from now on. The price is right for the rooms, but when it comes to the hotel's restaurant I strongly recommend you stay away - prices are insane (think big-city downtown $$) for the amount and quality that you get. Drink prices are status quo, but they have Happy Hour from 1pm-6pm. The outside pool and bar are excellent, overlooking the beach and ocean. Only complaint we had was the restaurant's food/price combination - the village has much better food. I recommend Gecko's, Innie's, Tina's, Loggerheads, and Driftwood. The Curve Bar is cool and not bad but overpriced.

The cabana was nice and the staff was friendly. Each cabana had two rooms, we were expecting a cabana to ourselves but it wasn't bad. Kayaks and paddle boards were available for free use but the paddle boards were a little beat up. The cost of everything there was in American dollars which got expensive. Hopkins village is nearby and less expensive food was available. The excursions were awesome but pricy as well. The hotel charges taxes, service fees, and a gov't tax on everything. We did a few excursions, zip lining and repelling was 170/person plus the taxes ended up to be about 190/person just for an idea on how it adds up. All together the trip was awesome. Bring heavy duty bug repellant and if you are renting a car be prepared for a bumpy ride.

Nice hotel and location, great staff and tours

Posted 31-Oct-2015
Pros: The people, location, tours and the food
Cons: More amenities and communication with the guests especially on the tours
Location: They were other hotels/villas, restaurants and the like. I enjoyed that it was somewhat off the beaten path as well.
For a solo vacationer I never felt alone, or rather lonely there was plenty to do each day. Likewise, the staff was always accommodating and willing to assist in anyway possible.
