Charming Cabin Surrounded by Alaskan Adventures
Situated on the land our family homesteaded in 1959, this charming home is surrounded by trails, fields, woodlands, creeks, and beautiful Kachemak Bay. Savor your morning coffee and peek-a-boo views of the mountains and abundant wildlife from the cozy living room, front porch, or hammock on the lawn. It isn’t uncommon to see cranes, pheasant, spruce grouse, owls, coyote, and moose meander through the yard. Make yourself a delicious breakfast with some fresh local eggs, goats milk yogurt or cheese and produce from nearby Kackle Berry Farm. Then discover the Alaskan wilderness in the nearby Caribou Hills, Fox River Flats, and Kachemak Bay where you can easily go fishing, beachcombing, tidepooling, hiking, horseback riding, and berry picking during the summer months, or cross country skiing in the winter. If you prefer your adventure to be fueled by a little more horsepower, you are welcome to bring ATVs or snowmachines (snowmobiles to you outsiders) as there is plenty of parking. Or, if you are interested in exploring a quaint fishing town, enjoy a 30 minute drive to Homer where you will find a variety of galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, wineries, breweries, shops, museums, and visitors center. Don't miss your opportunity to visit the unique Homer Spit where you can bird watch, fish, shop for trinkets, strole the bike path and boardwalks, enjoy fresh seafood, or stop into the infamous Salty Dog Saloon. If you want to explore beyond the shore, there are a number of businesses that offer deep sea fishing, bear viewing, bird watching sea kayaking, and glacier and flight seeing tours.
At the end of your day, return to relax and recuperate in our beautifully renovated cabin. This home is just rustic enough to feel relaxed without feeling like you're roughing it. Many of the furnishings are one-of-kind custom built or up-cycled items by Trash & Treasure Creations. It has two bedrooms and one bath and will sleep up to 6 people. You will find a fully furnished eat-in kitchen, washer/dryer, internet, and because cell service is mostly unavailable in the area, there is a landline phone for local calls. All linens and towels are provided, as well as a charcoal bar-b-q for the grill master in the family.
Local businesses and attractions include AK Diamond J Ranch Wedding Venue, Alaska Homestead Peonies (offers tours by appointment and flowers by the stem in season), and Snowmads Parking (offers additional parking for ATVs and snowmachines) are just a stone's throw away. Trails End Horse Adventures and the famous Kilcher Homestead are approximately 15 minutes down the road. Fritz Creek General Store offers fuel, liquor, delicious sandwiches, pizza, desserts and fresh made artisan breads just 10 miles away. The town of Homer is approximately 30 minutes away.
Two things that are important to note is that cell reception is very limited over much of Alaska, the Kenai Peninsula, and the outlying areas of Homer where the cabin is located, and Google Maps sometimes has incorrect road names listed on their map. It's an exchange we make for the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. There is no cell reception for several miles around or at the rental cabin or at our home and office nearby. You will likely not be able to send or receive cellular calls, SMS text messages, or e-mails from the area around cabin via cellular connection. However, there is WiFi so you WILL be able to send and receive when you're at the cabin and connected. For this reason, please print or save the driving directions, WiFi password, key lockbox code, and contact information in a place that is accessible without connection to cellular or internet access. All of the codes and contact information will be automatically sent to you prior to your arrival.

Wonderful and charming little cabin. My husband and I were long overdue for aN extended weekend away and this was just the right spot. Thank you so very much.
This cabin was so cute and had everything we needed for our stay! If you love a quiet spot with beautiful views, this is a win. Plus, the owners were so sweet to have bought flowers for my husband and my anniversary!
I would definitely recommend booking this awesome place!
This little cabin was the perfect place for us to stay. It was remote with stunning views, exactly what we were looking for! Natasha was the perfect host, she thought of everything that one would need. Including the big, beautiful vases with giant peony blooms! Her knowledge and stories of Homer were so interesting. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again!
Check-in was confusing because the site didn’t offer details about the door code or lack of cell phone reception once we got there. Natasha was great!!! Just needed the site to give the actual check in information via emails
This wonderful cabin is just AWESOME!!!! It looks just like the pictures on VRBO. Natasha has a very welcoming and relaxing home! My husband and I just wanted to get away for some peace and quiet - that is actually want we got. When we are in Homer again - this will be where we stay. If you don't stay there - it will be your loss for sure!!
Lovely little two bedroom cabin in fairly remote area with views galore . It is exactly as pictured and described. We took a down day here on our trip and mostly relaxed indoors and on the property. It is approx 30 min from town so just be aware of that and plan accordingly. We did not come to Alaska to hang out in a crowd so that was fine by us.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Little one is 3 months and a crib and wooden rocker were very handy. Highly recommend a nice hot shower with the window open to enjoy the view/mimic a spa experience. Master bed very comfortable. Pillows nice and fluffy. Nice to stay a little outside town. Highly recommend.
We were beyond thrilled when we saw the cabin! It was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. I would recommend a hot tub or steam shower especially for cold days ;-). Would stay here over and over.
My friend & I loved our stay in this little homestead cabin, it’s a short scenic drive out from Homer. The cabin is sparkling clean & has everything you need for enjoying your stay. Very comfy beds with nice linens & a well set up kitchen. There was 2 in my group although the cabin has plenty of room for 4+
We hope to visit again soon :)
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The listing on the VRBO website was extremely accurate. We were very thankful for the washer and dryer and the beds were super comfortable. We would defiantly stay here again!
Beautiful area. The next morning we were leaving at 5am and saw 5 moose (one with a young one) beside of the roads grazing. Too fast to get pictures, but they were magnificent animals. The scenery around the house was so beautiful. There were 5 adults and our stay was comfortable
We love this property and Natasha is the perfect host, helpful, informative, friendly. She has thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and cozy. This was our second visit at Fritz Creek, it’s nice and secluded but also close enough to town to shop, fish, walk around at the spit or whatever. Nice hiking in the area also. Halibut fishing was great. Thank you Natasha for your hospitality! Can’t wait to come back!
My family and I loved this cabin. The views are amazing. The owner was quick to answer our questions and very accommodating. The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Thank you for everything.
We would highly recommend this place at the end of the road in Alaska to anyone who does like the quietness of a remote place with great views and does enjoy all the luxury amenities you would find otherwise in a city apartment. Thanks for a great stay, would love to come back.
If you are looking for a nice quiet place to relax away from the busy Homer area in the summer, this is the place! This cabin suited our family well during our stay. We were even able to grill out during our stay with the provided grill and charcoal.
When coming to Homer I knew I didn’t want to stay too close to downtown. This cute little cottage was perfect. It is just a 15 minute drive to town. The surroundings are very peaceful and the interior décor is beautiful.
This place was truly incredible. Our host made us feel right at home. We were treated like friends and that’s something truly valuable. The cabin was perfect for us. Can’t wait to come back!
My husband and I can't speak highly enough about our stay in Homer. This cabin was everything we envisioned and had hoped for. Every amenity needed for a remote stay was provided and then some. The cabin was very well appointed with every thing kitchen, linens, pillows, blankets, laundry... and plenty of hot water and heat. It was apparent that great thought went into making the cabin a cohesive home away from home... it never felt or looked just thrown together or second hand.... just very tasteful and cohesive.
...and the views.... oh.my.gosh!! the views!! Who wakes up each morning to those beautiful, majestic mountains and glaciers??? WE DO!!!;)
This was the perfect, much needed get away. unplug and reconnect to life's important matters that we had hoped for. Natasha is a dream to work with and so very helpful. We loved our stay, hated to have to leave and would definitely rent again.
My husband and I agree.... Alaska changes you!! our cabin stay certainly played a big part of that.
The cabin is perfect. Homer is perfect. After several days of fishing, shopping and exploring it was wonderful to return to the cabin. The pictures do not do it justice. Even a rainy day is beautiful. My only regret is not meeting Natisha. Hopefully we will be back and get to hear the history.
This is one of those places you selfishly and momentarily hesitate to review out of fear when you want to come back (like we do) it’ll be booked up forever! Lol but it’s so lovely and the host so thoughtful of detail and comfort, they really must be praised.
Location is beautiful in the summer (when we stayed) and imagine winter would be great, too. Far enough away from town to be quiet and private, close enough to feel secure anything you need is nearby. Instructions to arrive were clear and correct.
We had four people in our party and everyone had their own bed, everything was well-appointed and very comfortable. Kitchen had every dish, pot, and utensil necessary for meals and coffee. Television was easy to operate; nice and large for our family movie night. Cleaning supplies were available as well, though you’ll need to remember to bring your own body wash for showers (I’m guessing most travelers do this anyway). Washer and dryer available as well, which is lovely for extended stays.
This property was perfect for our us with visiting family and would be a great romantic getaway for couples. Would definitely and wholeheartedly recommend staying here!
