Band in pub was good sleep was impossible
The room is above a pub that was full of young people who drank far too much they were very loud until very late into early morning hours. The bed was not at all comfortable. The food was good the owners very nice but they need to close pub at reasonable hour to allow comfort of sleeping by guests.

To be honest it was not a good experience. I didn’t feel safe having to do the check in on the bar that was completely full of people, some of them wasn’t using mask and definitely not keeping social distance at all. Most of the staff wasn’t using masks too and during the breakfast the lady serving the food was using the mask covering only her mouth and I not felt comfortable to see her breathing over my plate.

We received a warm welcome and our dog was spoiled by the staff. We were offered use of the private forest area to exercise the dog. The room was immaculate with beautiful wooden furniture. We ate at the pub in the evening which was lovely. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were so helpful and friendly.

The Bickford Arms
I had a very nice stay at The Bickford Arms. Most welcoming owner and staff. Nice clean comfortable room and lovely bacon sandwich for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

Excellent Country Pub
From the initial welcome our stay was very good indeed. The owner was very welcoming and showed us to our well-appointed room, which was comfortable and clean. We ate dinner in the bar on the first night which was good value, quality and sizeable portions. Breakfast was excellent with a friendly waitress. This inn is thoroughly recommended.

Stayed at hotel as we were going to a wedding at Buckland house nearby. The hotel was clean friendly and ideal for our weekend stay. We had a nice evening meal there on the day of arrival and the full English breakfast was excellent. Would stay again

A good base for a Devon stay
We used this as a base for a family occasion and were well looked after. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well stocked, and the food was very good for all ages.

Nice place for a stop over, I was in one of the newest rooms so all very confortable here. Only moan was the coolers running all night so if the windows are open you will hear them.

The hotel that died
While the Bickford arms rooms are clean and tidy there wasnt any heating, even down in the bar it was like a refrigerator, most of the place was in darkness and with only a handful of customers felt like a place that had lost all life and was waiting to die,food was average beer expensive and the staff going through the motions . Was woken at 4 am by the fire alarm system bleeping loudly and was still going when leaving at 8am , apparently no one wanted to reset it in case it fully armed ! Thank goodness it was only one night.

Hotels.com confirmation stated that a room with a bath & private balcony had been booked but this was not so. I consider that a fault with Hotels.com and not the hotel which overall was very good.
