We enjoyed the tranquility and the short walk to the not very busy beach. It was very warm during our stay and the air conditioner wasn't functioning properly which resulted in a couple of sultry nights.
We loved staying at the house! Everything was clean and the communication with the owners was great! The house is in a pretty location with the a 2 minute walk away! We loved enjoying the hot tub on some chilly days!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the proximity to the lake and the ability to walk just a minute or two down to the beach. The kitchen had all the essentials and the living areas were comfy. The hot tub water seemed a bit discolored but that didn't keep our 7yo son from testing it out. We'd definitely stay here again.
We used this house for our annual girls weekend away. The house was great for what we needed. The only complaint was we were excited to use the hot tub and when we got there it was green and not usable.
The weather didn't cooperate, but we were still able to have a lot of fun indoors with our toddler. Kin Craft & Coffee was a great way to start each day and this house is in a beautiful location.
* Note: bring your own toilet paper if you prefer something softer/more robust.
Overall, it was a good stay, and the house was as described in the listing. An older property, but comfortable for our group of 8. The enclosed front porch can function as an additional living space or a 4th bedroom as there are doors to close it off. Our famiy of "foodies" loves to cook together and found the cookwear provided somewhat lacking. We loved eating our meals outdoors on the large deck. Stacy was a responsive host and had an extra bottle of gas brought over as we feared the grill might run out. We appreciated that! The James St. Beach access was great. Because it was 4th of July weekend and all the other beach parking lots were full, it was really nice to be able to just walk up the path for the small public beach area.
The property was a great place and the communication with the owners was quick and easy. We loved the hot tub and the clear skies, easy access to the place and the overall experience. The only downside was that we found the cleaning, especially in the upstairs bathroom to be subpar. There was toothpaste still in the sink, hair in the shower and the shower curtain had not been cleaned or replaced in some time. Also, there was a strong, musty odor upstairs that I believe was from the wood paneling. Outside to that, the property was great, had a ton of sleeping space if you have a big party, and is right by Lake Michigan. Hope this helps!
The house is in a very quiet nice neighborhood. Houses near-by but yoi could hardly tell. It felt so secluded and quiet thanks to the fenced in yard, trees, and deck. The house was very clean. It felt cozy yet super spacious. It was just 2 of us but there were 3 bedrooms, 2 couches, and a daybed with 2 matresses so plenty of room for larger parties. The best part was the hot tub. wow!!!! The way the deck and hot tub area are set up you feel like youre in your own little world. We came in February for my husband's birthday. It snowed quite a bit so we enjoyed the hot tub while watching the snow fall. So romantic. Close enough to town and restaurants and sight seeing but far enough that you dont see or hear traffic. We saw 1 other couple/car the entire 3 days. Absolutely beautiful, we hope to come back in the spring to do more sightseeing and enjoy the backyard and hot tub some more!
nice spacious place, beautiful property - lots of trees and private.
Bedrooms are a bit tight, so might be an issue for some larger groups. Easy drive to Holland and several public beaches nearby.
Good location & nice house, but it's run down a bit and just kinda dirty inside and out. Bath towels were a bit scarce for a party of six. Good idea to bring extras.
The house was very comfortable for our group of 11. Generally, the house provided everything we needed, sufficient beds, towels, gas grill, and fire pit. The hot tub was a bonus which the kids really enjoyed. The kitchen could use a bit more silverware (there were only about 6 or so forks. We really liked the location as there were 3 nice beaches very near the property. It was also a short drive to some of the attractions in Holland.
Stacey's home is a wonderful place for a Lake Michigan getaway. Located in a beautiful, quiet wooded neighborhood, the house is just steps away from a gorgeous little sandy public beach on the big lake. The house was comfortable with AC and plenty of fans, beds were comfy, the outdoor spaces are so nice under the canopy of trees.
Lovely spot just a short walk away from the beach. We got colder temperatures than we hoped plus a bit of stormy weather but still a lovely spot to relax and get away from it all.
My son and I had a wonderful short visit. The house was clean and was exactly as stated on the VRBO app. My son gives the house high marks for the hot tub and the clean smell (one of his pet peeves is when a VRBO is musty smelling). I liked that the Wi-Fi was very fast so that we could chill out and stream movies.
The location was nice as well. If we come back in the summer, there were tons of beaches and tourists spots close by.
Pros: The house is spacious and welcoming, the location is nice. Had all the basic necessities. Check-in was easy, communication was good, check-out instructions were clear. The fireplace was really nice.
Cons: The hot tub was dirty - the water had a murky green/brown tinge. As a hot tub owner, it looked like it hadn't been changed in many months, and chemicals were probably just tossed in rather than properly tested and balanced.
Coffee machine was also dirty - had to run a few pots of water thru to get rid of the rancid oil taste.
Queen bed was painfully firm and sagged in the middle. We had to sleep in the full bed in the bunk-bed room to not wake up sore.
I would stay again if the host provided a guarantee the hot tub water was recently changed and properly treated.
Great space, comfortable seating and beds, hot tub was so relaxing. House was heated so we were not cold at night. Kitchen was great, Beautiful property and area.
Overall it was a great location. It's a charming older home that is quite well kept. It was nice being able to relax in the hot tub at the end of the day. And it felt fairly secluded while being close to all the sites. The owner is also super communicative. The only issue we had was that the beds could have been a bit more comfortable.
