    Street leads to historic Alexandra Battery. Walking distance (return part uphill) to Long Beach, shops, cafes and famous Seagrass restaurant on Long Point. A minute walk to bus stop.

    15 minutes to CBD and Salamanca/Battery Point with connections to MONA ferry. Local 401 Bus connects to southern coastal suburbs and two km to Wrest Point and University.

    Sonningview is also a convenient base for day trips outside Hobart. Half day trips to Coal River region for wineries and historic Richmond.

    Further afield exploring Huon and Bruny Island is a 40 min drive via the Southern Outlet. And Port Arthur historic site a 90 min drive.

    Sitting/Dining room is a sunny space and a 2000w panel heater. The focus is on the large picture window and its view of the NW facing garden and Mt Wellington pinnacle.

    Fully carpeted with comfy sofa, armchair, side tables, reading lamp, dining table – chairs, TV/DVD player, Tasmanian DVD's, books and board games. Visitor guides.

    Adjoining is the bedroom and ensuite bathroom. Queen size bed with electric blanket, doona and linen supplied. Side Drawers and lamps. Plenty of storage in the sideboard and wardrobe space. Storage for luggage. Temperature controlled 2500W panel heating.

    Ensuite Bathroom/separate toilet - shower, wash basin, wall heater, hairdryer, towels & essentials toiletries supplied. Separate toilet with wash basin and wall mirror.

    Kitchenette is carefully thought out to make food prep convenient. A single induction cooktop, flatbed microwave, kettle, toaster, frypan, wok and cooking essentials. Under counter Fridge/Freezer. Lots of crockery. Glassware. Stock of basic grocery items.

    Includes laundry with front loading washing machine & dryer. Outdoor clothes hoist. Ironing board and iron. Laundry basket and tray table.

    An extensive library of books and videos a source of Tasmanian information including brochures and guides.

    Within 10 km our local attractions include sandy Long Beach for walks and swimming, Parks, Mt Nelson, Mt Wellington and historic Alexandra Battery. Climb up historic Taroona Shot Tower and enjoy delicious English tea garden and light lunch.

Private Garden seclusion

Wonderful place to stay , lovely outlook (from the bed) to the garden & Mt Wellington. Very thoughtful little extras ( Jamdrops provided by the host ) bus stops nearby , great views of the Derwent from the front of the house.

A great base for exploring Hobart

A fab self-contained garden apartment in a beautiful suburb of Hobart. Good parking and easy access to public transport, Hobart CBD and Sandy Bay facilities. Wonderful support and communication from host Janina. We can't recommend this accommodation enough to all ages adults.

It was one of the best places I have stayed, the hosts Janina and Gary can not do enough for you. Met on arrival offered to carry our luggage, very wam people went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable. Was surprised how big the flat was and spotlessly clean Lovely views close to everything. Would recommend to everyone.

A lovely garden apartment

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sandy Bay. It was within easy reach of Hobart CBD, local restaurants and great shopping. Janina and Gary are thoughtful, friendly and considerate hosts and helped us feel right at home. The garden is a jewel, full of color and beautiful plants and the apartment very comfortable. We hope to return on our next visit to Hobart.

Beautiful location, we were well looked after, arriving late (8.30pm instead of 4 as flight was delayed) in gale winds, Janina gifted us eggs and bacon to cook up for our evening meal, which was soo appreciated! Garden and views were special, and accomodation was neat and clean with all amenities provided. Janina and Gary were lovely souls who kept us up to date with local events and places to eat/visit. Highly recommend staying here xx

Janina and Gary are warm and welcoming hosts who have put so much thought into making their guests feel very much at home. The flat is fantastic and very comfortable, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The area is close to the beach and supermarkets and eateries. Views are amazing. City is close by and with a car there are so many daytrips possible. Our hosts were very helpful with great suggestions on places to visit and best ways to enjoy this lovely city.

Overall was good. Janina was just lovely and accommodating. She provided tea, coffee, milk, biscuits etc. Everything supplied and bed was comfortable. You would assume the photo shown in the advertisement was the view from the accommodation. However it's the view from the house in front so we found this a little disappointing. Overall not overly roomy but as I said everything supplied.

Really enjoyed our stay in Sandy Bay. Lovely hosts, who were very prompt with their communication and showed great hospitality during our stay. Great biscuits. Highly recommended and would stay again !
