The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He informed us that we had timed our stay perfectly because exclusively for one night only, the longest bridge in Japan would light up in celebration for Golden Week. Indeed it happened and we had a great view from our Japanese style room.

All good bar the hotel guests having to check themselves in a computerised check machines.
This merely confuses, delays and annoys customers in equal measure.
Big rooms for a single Japanese hotel. Well thought. Good breakast.
Easy to find from the JR station.

If you are traveling light, the rooms are passable. If , like me, you have suitcases, the rooms are small.
Staff was very helpful. There was one English speaker on staff, making communication much easier.

We stayed at Awaikeda ekimae-shop as we planned to do rafting at beautiful Yoshino river. We stayed at Awaikeda honmachi which is a private house but ekimae-shop has 5 rooms and toilet and showers are all shared.
The place is basic but clean.
We were 6 of us, sleeping on futon on tatami floor in one room.
Am glad that our children experienced a proper Japanese sleeping style!
