The room and floor was supposed to be no smoking but stunk of smoke and people where smoking on the floor. Staff not polite or interested and we didn’t feel welcomed not sure they like tourists. Room small and needs update

Convenient hotel
Hotel was ok for a couple of nights. A 7 min walk from the train station, and convenient for the tram lines. Shuttle bus was available for departure. Breakfast was good. Decor needs a bit of upgrading.

Recommended Hiroshima Hotel
This hotel is within 10 minutes walk from Hiroshima rail station. Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and tourist sites. Generally a very clean hotel, super friendly staff. Buffet breakfast was more like lunch, enough choice in food and drinks Left luggage available.

We enjoyed our stay. I wished we had a map to get to our hotel. It will be very helpful if there were more English directions on their web site. I recommend this hotel and definitely be our first choice of hotels in Hiroshima. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had a large selection of entrees.

I wouldn’t stay here again for free
This stay was really disappointing. The pictures didn’t line up well and compared to everywhere else we’ve been in Japan, the hotel staff was very rude. We asked to check out late because we got in to the hotel at midnight and they 100% said that was okay. Even though they do mention an extra charge for doing so, they said they would waive it. Then upon check out it was new staff who tried to charge us 50 dollars for checking out an hour late (which by the way their check out time is 10am...never seen that early of a check out before). We had to get somewhat angry because they were being so aggressive to us which was upsetting and eventually they just told us to leave. I also have to mention if you’re not comfortable with a rock hard bed, so not stay here. It’s a literal brick.

It was in a great location close to Hiroshima station, the peace memorial, shopping & food. The main issue we had was with the beds. It was like sleeping on a slab ef concrete. So our sleep was not very good. The hotel is clean & everything you need is there despite it being quite dated looking. The prices we paid was good but I would have paid more to have a better mattress.

First, they gave me a room with no ventilation at all. Window impossible to open, AC NOT WORKING, and room looks very outdated, seems like a dorm room without any repair for last 30 years. So, I started to insist to give me another room. After debates they agreed to upgrade my room and CHARGED me a difference, which is not good. Before I was staying in different hotels, if they can’t provide same level room in working conditions, apparently they should upgrade it free of charge. Anyway...Thegood thing in this hotel - breakfast! OMG! Really good. And, they have on 10 floor like sauna and jacuzzi. They call it Onsen. Pretty cool. And free of charge. So, once again, if you gonna get a room there, make sure it’s in main building, not in annexed. ✌️

Great value hotel in great location
We had a great stay at this hotel. The room was quite spacious for the price. Staff keep the room and hotel in great condition. Our booking included breakfast, and it was a very good spread with both Western and Japanese options. The hotel also has a Japanese bath on the top floor, which was very relaxing and a nice perk to have access to. Hotel location is great as it is a short walk from Hiroshima station.

An easy 10 min walk from station. Rooms are Outdated yet spacious. Beds are hard; great for sore backs. Staff extremely helpful. Big bath on 10F. Would stay here again.

Almost pleasant return
It’s been a while since my last visit to Hiroshima. The hotel was recommended by a colleague. I am tall guy so I did not feel very comfortable in my room. Plus the toilet was dripping so my sleep was a bit disturbed particularly in the middle of the night. Last but not the least the access to the other building was a bit awkward.

The bath didn't drain well, so there was always water in the bath tub when I took a shower. Also the bath room was extremely small. The bed was hard. Also it was rather complicated to get to the room from the hotel front - very inconvenient!

Hotel is well located, close to a train station. It was a very last minute booking so not too bad but it seemed quite dark in the room and it seemed quite tired. They do, however have a very nice top floor Japanese Bath in the second building with all the toiletries you may need and a washing machine with a tumble dryer, so you can wash your clothes during your bath! It is quite cheap, comparing to Kyoto's laundrettes too! Overall good experience but I would not call it amazing.

wanted non smoking room
when I booked I requested a non smoking room but the room allocated was a smoking room. The staff found another room but there seems to be a problem between the Expedia system and the hotel booking process

Not the best but not the worst
The hotel staff was courteous for the most part. It’s not a bad hotel for the price and location, which is walkable from the station, but to be honest I would probably try and stay somewhere else if I were to go back to Hiroshima.

It’s about a 15min walk to Hiroshima station which makes it really convenient however, the room could use a little updating. The beds were super firm, a little too firm. We didn’t get much sleep because the beds were almost has hard as the floor. Staff was nice enough and the room was clean and in a quiet neighborhood.

I love the Ark hotel. The staff is pleasant, the hotel is right by the station with a good 7/1, tasty yakitori, and a very nice onsen. The room is large by Japanese standards, well equipped, and comfortable. Did I mention the nice onsen? Definitely stay here when passing through Hiroshima.

Good location, very old hotel. Consider the price!
This hotel consists of two buildings, one old and one newer. I can't attest to the newer one, but the older building left much to be desired. Good: Very friendly and accommodating staff. Decent comforts and bathroom products afforded. Acceptably clean. Warm. Convenient location 10 minute walk from the station. Bad: The older part of the hotel doesn't seem to have been renovated since it was built in the 80s. We were clearly in a room that had been used by smokers in years past, though little odor remained. The air condition had no temperature control, only "high", "medium", "low" and "off" settings. We had to open the window because it got too hot. The bathroom was quite small. All in all it had a tired, run-down feel. For the price we paid it didn't feel worth it. Just 10 USD more gave us a brand new, fancy hotel in the city of Nagoya even closer to the station. (There was an AM/FM radio built into the bed headrest—so I'm sure the hotel was cutting edge 40 years ago. Would have been fun to use if it wasn't for the broken/distorted speakers..)

Great japanese/western breakfast buffet
This hotel was within walking distance (10 min) to the Hiroshima train station. We had to make an early start the next morning so this seemed like a good choice. The price was very reasonable and it was clean. The breakfast was a large buffet filled with both japanese and western style foods. It was worth the extra few bucks for breakfast. :)

The onsen (spa) is decent - very clean and a few different tubs. Much easier place to shower than the room, which has a tiny bathroom. The room was so small I couldn't lay my suitcase flat other than on the bed. I saw what looked like bird excrement on the window sill and corners of the room were dusty. Very to the station though!

Ark hotel is fairly close to the Hiroshima train station. Our nonsmoking room smelled smoky despite staff's help w/ running an air cleaner/ humidifier. Hotels.com assistance came in handy and we were able to swap out to a different nonsmoking room in the newer Annex building.
