About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Spring is quiet up here. Wildflowers push through across six private acres, the trails at Catamount and Bash Bish Falls are opening back up, and the Berkshire ridgeline turns green before anywhere else in the valley. No crowds. Just mountain air, birdsong from the porch, and the kind of silence that makes you realize how loud everything else has been.
Meadow View Manor is a four-bedroom Post and Beam retreat perched high on a Hillsdale hillside — the perfect base for a spring hiking weekend, or for plugging in your laptop and working remotely for a week with 500+ Mbps fiber WiFi and mountain views outside every window. The Copake-Hillsdale Farmers Market opens in May, Hawthorne Valley Farm is ten minutes away, and the wildflower bloom along the South Taconic Trail is worth the drive alone. Two hours from Midtown Manhattan. Two and a half from Boston. Five minutes from Catamount. And a world away from all of it.
THE HOUSE
Three levels, 3,072 square feet, each floor with its own purpose.
TOP LEVEL — SLEEP Four bedrooms, all on the top floor for quiet and privacy. Two master suites: one with a private en-suite bathroom (walk-in shower, hair dryer, fresh towels and linens), the other sharing a full bathroom with the remaining two bedrooms. A half bath on the main level means no morning traffic jams.
Every bedroom has its own whisper-quiet mini-split for individual heating and cooling — no fighting over the thermostat. Set your room to exactly the temperature you want.
Beds: one king, two queens, and two twins. Sleeps eight comfortably. All linens, pillows, and towels are provided and freshly laundered for every stay.
MAIN LEVEL — GATHER The heart of the house. The kitchen was fully remodeled in 2025 — quartz countertops, Samsung electric range with five burners and a warming zone, Samsung oven, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and range hood. It's stocked with everything you need to cook real meals: pots, pans, knives, cutting boards, mixing bowls, a Keurig Duo coffee maker (pods or a full 12-cup carafe), coffee grinder, tea kettle, blender, toaster, ice maker, wine opener, plates, glasses, silverware — the works. If you're wondering whether we have it, we probably do. And if we don't, just ask before your trip and we'll have an answer.
The kitchen flows into an eating area, a formal dining room, and an open living space anchored by a wood-burning fireplace. There's nothing quite like lighting a fire after a day on the trails or the slopes and sinking into the couch while the mountain goes dark outside.
The living area has a smart TV with access to all major streaming services — just log in with your account. Three full-size patio doors open onto the veranda overlooking the mountain. This is where mornings happen, where afternoon reading happens, where dinner conversations drift into the evening. Outside, a deck with a table, chairs, and a BBQ grill is set up and ready for al fresco cooking with a view.
LOWER LEVEL — PLAY An open-concept game room with a ping-pong table, a second smart TV, and a sofa bed that adds extra sleeping capacity for larger groups. Board games are stacked and ready — Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, and more. Books line the shelves if you'd rather go quiet.
Walk out from here through sliding glass doors onto a large ground-level wooden deck. This is where the fire pit lives. Pull up a chair, light a fire, and look up — on a clear night you can trace the Milky Way from one horizon to the other. The east-facing mountain view makes this one of the best stargazing spots in the region.
BUILT FOR REMOTE WORK
This isn't "decent WiFi." Meadow View Manor runs on fiber-optic internet with an Orbi 860 Series Tri-Band WiFi 6 mesh network delivering 500+ Mbps to every corner of the house — upstairs, downstairs, out on the veranda. That's enough bandwidth for simultaneous video calls on Zoom or Teams, 4K streaming in the living room, and large file uploads from the desk, all at the same time without a hiccup.
A dedicated desk and ergonomic chair are set up and ready for a real work session — not a kitchen counter with bad lighting.
Cell service is limited this far up the mountain. The fiber connection is your lifeline, and it's rock solid. If you're looking to work remotely for a week or a month with panoramic mountain views outside your window instead of a cubicle wall, this is the setup you've been searching for. Extended stays welcome — reach out for weekly and monthly rates.
THE LAND
Six private acres of Berkshire mountainside. The property sits at the end of a winding country road — no through traffic, no passing cars, no noise. When you step outside, you'll hear wind moving through the trees, birdsong in the morning, and crickets at night. That's it.
The east-facing mountain views are expansive — rolling meadows giving way to forested ridgelines. Mornings here are special: sunrise paints the valley in golds and pinks before the rest of the world wakes up. Evenings are just as good, with the mountain silhouette darkening against a sky that gets clearer and more star-filled the later you stay out.
Deer wander through the property regularly. Hawks circle overhead. The occasional fox crosses the meadow at dusk. This is genuine countryside — not a subdivision with a nature theme.
WHAT'S NEARBY
The location hits a rare sweet spot — remote enough to feel like a real escape, close enough that nothing is far when you want it.
Outdoor Adventures:
Catamount Ski Area and Aerial Adventure Park — 5 min drive

South Taconic Trail — trailhead minutes from the house, 12 miles of ridgeline hiking with summit views
Taconic State Park — 20 min (camping, Harlem Valley Rail Trail for biking)
Ski Butternut — 25 min
Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort — 50 min
Food, Culture, and Towns:

Getting Here:
2 hours from Midtown Manhattan via Taconic State Parkway
2.5 hours from Boston
9 minutes to the Taconic Parkway entrance
Amtrak Hudson station — 30 min (direct service to/from NYC Penn Station)
The drive up is part of the experience. Once you turn off the Taconic, the roads narrow, the trees close in, and by the time you reach the winding road to the house, you've already started to decompress.

Great space! Lots of comfortable amenities on the property. Large indoor spaces and the view is as promised! Especially at sunrise.Wildlife is up close and neighbors are few and far between so lots of privacy.Everything is only a 15 minute drive away.
The property was exactly what we had hoped for: secluded, beautifully decorated, all the proper amenities and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will hopefully return in the not so distant future!
Really enjoyed our stay. Open-plan downstairs with spacious kitchen, two dining areas, amazing sectional that fit all of us for movie night. Great fireplace where we enjoyed a couple fires.
Great home in the Berkshires - roomy, lots of amenities, clean, close to Great Barrington and lots of activities. A great home for a family trip or group of friends.
Great for our two families. Fit 8 very comfortably. Close to Catamount where we went skiing and easy to get to town. Open concept house made it fun for family dinners and nighttime activities.
This was a great house for our family! There was lots of room to spread out, and we enjoyed the board games and the ping pong table. The location is lovely, private but not too far from restaurants.
This is a wonderful place to go and enjoy a beautiful and quiet scenery. The house is fully equipped with high quality appliances and all that you may need to have a great, comfortable getaway. We would definitely return.
My family and I stayed for a nearby wedding and enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful property and the house was clean and cozy. Sound does travel, as others mentioned , but no big deal unless you have especially noisy early risers. Kitchen was well equipped and the house had everything we needed! We would stay again.
We had a lovely holiday in this truly beautiful dream home. Everything promised in the VRBO advertisement was a reality - from the fireplace, the 4 bedrooms, the ping pong table, the kitchen and the glorious view. We even had a dusting of snow making the trees glisten. Absolutely lovely. Our host was most attentive as well—checking in with us to be sure we understood the heating units and the fireplace. We really had an ideal stay!
We attended our daughters wedding in Philmont. House was perfect. Views were amazing! Enjoyed morning walks and sitting outside on the deck. Very tranquil!
Beautiful home in a beautiful location — this was a perfect place to accommodate a group of friends. All parts of it were ideal, namely the direct and flexible communication from the host. Highly recommended
We were 2 families of 4 (4 kids aged 3-6). Plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably and even more space for fun. It snowed 7 inches during our stay and the kids were able to sled in the front yard. The TV and board game options were great for the kids and adults. Same with the kitchen and dining table. Great fireplace and very responsive owner. We will definitely consider staying here again in the winter or the summer.
The house is nestled in the hills of the Berkshires. The house was very clean and had the most accessories in the kitchen that we've ever seen (in a good way!) Lots of glasses, bowls, trays for serving meals and snacks. The kitchen was recently remodeled so it was very fresh and clean. There were 2 tables so we were able to do a puzzle and dine at the other table. There are plenty of seating areas for groups or for privacy. We lit the fireplace on 2 nights which was wonderful (we brought some firewood even though some was provided). We also had happy hour on the deck that overlooks the large yard which was very enjoyable. We had planned to use the firepit, but ended up not using it.Two of the bedrooms are fairly large which worked well for selecting one for my grandson's blowup bed. There was plenty of room for the 7 adults and 1 toddler. There are several stairs you need to climb. You enter the house on the lower level and then climb a full flight to the main level and then another full flight to go up to the bedrooms. I wanted to mention for those who may have limitations. This was not a problem for our group. We had a minor issue. I contacted Alex and he got back to me quickly and we resolved it. We had a lovely stay and took advantage of things to do in the area. I recommend this home.
Our party of four adults found ample space to spread out and relax at this property. There are quite a few stairs to access all three stories, including the main living space on the second story and the four bedrooms on the third story. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). There is a very nice deck overlooking the lovely and sprawling grounds below the house. A fire pit was situated behind the house. There is a balcony and patio also off the main/second floor.
Mini splits/AC kept the bedrooms and second story cool in summer. Washer/dryer on the first floor was convenient. About 15 minute drive to Hillsdale and closest groceries. Very good communication with owner.
This house delivers on everything in the listing and more. We had the groomsmen stay here as part of a wedding, and this house is a vacation all on its own, in a remote area, up a large hill, so it really feels like you're away from it all.
The interior is as good as, if not better than the pictures. Gathering together for coffee as the morning sun rose through the windows was magical. We also played D&D at the huge table, mountain vista in the background.
If you're on the fence about booking this beautiful place, I say GO FOR IT! It was worth every dollar, and the hosts are kind and responsive. I'd definitely book again next time I need to get away from it all with friends.
Good things to know, but were absolutely not dealbreakers:
-Sound travels and echos in this space, especially in the fireplace area and up to the bedrooms. The floorboards can be a squeaky too. Not a dealbreaker - our early risers just had to make sure to stay quiet as not to wake everyone up.
- No curtains - there's literally no other house or person around, so I didn't care much about anyone being able to see in, but if anyone is sleeping on the couch downstairs (like I did, super comfy), know they'll wake up with the sunrise, lol. Not a complaint. I got this place for it to be sunsoaked.
- No service- there's 0 cell service up here, but the Wifi is insanely strong. I had wifi even down the driveway, and on the first level porch.
Thank you to Alejandro & Cindy for the great stay!
This is our 4th year staying in Hillsdale post-Christmas but this house is the FIRST that had EVERYTHING we needed--spacious bedrooms. easy access to the woods, a beautiful "no traffic" road to take walks up, spectacular views, plenty of "hang-out" space for everyone, a fireplace. Our family is unanimous that this is the best house we have stayed in in Hillsdale. We are VERY grateful that they had a Graco pack-and-play in the upstairs bedroom--our son and his wife brought their own, but it allowed us to have an "upstairs/downstairs" set-up for the 4 month old. Anyway, all of us are talking already about next year and staying at Alejandro and Cindy's house.
