About this property
The Treehouse - A Hill Country Gem in the Lost Maples Region!
Welcome to the Treehouse! This cabin is surrounded by trees and it's second story location provides excellent views of the mountains. Although it is actually not a real tree house, but you'll feel like you're in one with all the comforts of home.
Located right off of FM337 between Vanderpool and Leakey it is the perfect location to begin your day. Quiet mornings on the balcony with a cup of coffee, birds coming and going to "dine" at the feeder, the sun rising over the mountains, you know it's going to be a good day to have a good day!
Many properties are near Lost Maples State Natural Area (SNA), although few are as close as The Treehouse. Only 7 miles from Lost Maples SNA, the Treehouse is in close proximity to all activities in the Lost Maples Region, Sabinal Canyon and Frio Canyon areas. The Treehouse is part of a 6 acre property that includes 4 other cabins that are nestled in a valley between Vanderpool and Leakey. Located right off of FM 337 you'll be positioned to branch out to a multitude of local activities such as tubing the Frio River, golfing at the Utopia Golf Course where Robert Duvall filmed "Seven Days in Utopia", hiking at Garner State Park and Lost Maples SNA and more. With tall, dense, mature stands of Ashe juniper mixed with Texas Oaks and Lacey Oaks along the steep-sided canyons, this stretch of FM 337 has been designated as one of the most popular scenic highways in Texas and referred to as the "Swiss Alps of Texas".
The Treehouse's interior offers hand-hewn beams, cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors, wood-burning fireplaces, central air/heat, TV with VCR and/or DVD, video library, and an informal dining area with a fully equipped kitchenette (in-cabin coffee setup, microwave, full size refrigerator and stove, pots, pans and dishes).
From your private balcony you can enjoy watching the many species of birds that visit the feeders. We even provide bird seed for you. And those squirrels! Who doesn't love to watch a squirrel as they try to steal seed from the feeder? There is a charcoal BBQ grill (BYOC), camp fire ring, picnic table and outdoor dining table available for you to enjoy as you soak up nature in one of the most beautiful, and peaceful settings in Texas. Surrounded by mountains and oak trees, you'll love how the wind speaks to you as it rustles the leaves, beckoning for you to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. No cell phone service? No problem. AT&T and T-Mobile service can be found right up the road in Vanderpool and each cabin offers fast, reliable and secure internet. While at the cabins it's "you" time. It's about spending time with family or friends with no distractions. It's about leaving your worries and cares behind and reconnecting with what is important.
Located on the Heart of Texas Wildlife Trail, The Treehouse offers good birding and wildlife viewing opportunities year round. The area is home to over 200 species of birds including the Golden-cheeked Warbler, Painted Bunting, Tufted Titmouse, Summer Tanager, Vermillion Flycatcher, Black-chinned Hummingbird and Black-capped Vireo.
In the nearby town of Utopia you can play golf on the 9 hole course where the movie 'Seven Days in Utopia' was filmed starring Robert Duvall, or enjoy an enchanted lunch or dinner on Saturdays at The Laurel Tree Guest Table Restaurant. The Laurel Tree is owned by Le Cordon Bleu Paris graduate Laurel Waters and offers a menu that changes weekly consisting of the freshest, seasonal ingredients. A unique private dining tree house built by Tree House Masters is also available on the Laurel Tree property by reservation only.
Mac and Ernie's Roadside Eatery is a more laid back option although the food is a special experience you won't want to miss. Mac and Ernie's is located about 35 miles from the cabin in Tarpley. Reservations are not necessary but highly recommended for parties of 8 people or more. Other attractions in the area include Lost Maples State Natural Area, Garner State Park, Hill Country State Natural Area, Frio River tubing, horseback riding, Devil's Sinkhole and Frio Bat Flights and shopping! There's plenty to do in the Tri-Canyon area, but sometimes you can find enjoyment in doing nothing at all. At The Treehouse nature can provide the entertainment, and we provide the "rest". Sit back and relax at your cabin, cook on the grill and enjoy star gazing or making s'mores by the campfire.
Whether a romantic getaway for two or a family fun-packed vacation, The Treehouse has something for everyone. Please Note: We are a 'No Pets' facility. COMING SOON! FAST, RELIABLE AND SECURE INTERNET AT EACH CABIN. Now you'll have more choices as to how you want to "unplug".

We loved our stay at the Treehouse! It was exactly what we were looking for, to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city! It was so quiet and serene. The house was very clean and accommodating to our needs. I loved sitting on the porch in the morning and watching the birds come and go from the feeders as I enjoyed my coffee!
The cabin was just as cute as the pictures showed it to be. Neat, clean and well stocked with all the cooking essentials. The owner even dropped off a small loaf of banana bread for us.. Would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable, light, and homey second floor cabin near Vanderpool. Host provides excellent information about things to do in the Leakey, Vanderpool, Utopia area. My husband and thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay.
Everything was beautiful here, so nice and quiet, a perfect place for our 15th anniversary. So close to Lost maples where the hiking is absolutely amazing and the view of the Sabina’s river from the overlook was gorgeous!!! And close to Garner as well which also has great hiking with beautiful views of the Frio River from the top of Old Baldy, what a sight to see! We had a wonderful stay here, it was just as advertised, Lovely!!
We needed a spot to “unplug” for a few days and this was perfect. We cooked, watched the stars and the bird feeder, read and took a hike in Lost Maples. It was nice to not hear traffic or my phone for a couple of days.
We had a great weekend away from our hectic life. The area is very beautiful and it's nice to "unplug" but I do recommend other guests to have any written directions you may need during your stay. 😊
We had a great experience staying at The treehouse property. The property was clean and very comfortable. We were able to get to Garner State Park, Los Maples and the winery easily. The front porch was nice to sit on and enjoy the evening sunset. Having a fireplace was just the right touch on a chilly night. Only suggestion is to add Wifi so if someone wants to do a work trip or weekend retreat they have access.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Treehouse cabin. The location was peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. The cabin was extremely well kept. We had everything we needed for our stay. The host has done a wonderful job at making her guests feel welcomed and at home with all the thoughtful details. I was amazed that our kids ages 13-6 never once missed the television or their devices. They enjoyed exploring the property. Bonus... The drive to the property was absolutely gorgeous!
My wife and teen-age daughter booked the Treehouse cabin on a quick getaway to the Lost Maples region. Although I didn’t think about it when I booked it, the lack of Wi-Fi and cell service was one of the best things about traveling there with a 13 year old. Instead of spending her time glued to her phone, my daughter hiked, played board games and sat around and talked with my wife and I. What a gift! If you are looking for a beautiful location to get away from the crazy and reconnect with your family, this is the place!
We stayed 4 nights at the Treehouse, and it was perfect. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Jeralyn was very helpful and responsive to our questions. Loved seeing the birds at the birdfeeder. What a delightful touch. Close to Lost Maples Winery, Lost Maples Natural Area, and Garner State Park, it was perfect for our hiking adventures. We have Verizon, so we really were unplugged, but we loved the sound of silence.
Great little cabin. So peaceful and quiet, everything you need, very comfortable bed. Would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.
We enjoyed our time here. We were able to unwind and get away from technology. We enjoyed the comfortable bed after a day at Garner. We had peace, enjoyed reading and were safe and secure during a big thunderstorm. Supplies were available to meet our needs. An enjoyable experience!
Our stay was a perfect get away. The property was beautiful. Everything there was as clean as anywhere I have ever stayed. We look forward to a return trip in the future.
We stayed here so we would be close to the Frio. Perfect place to hangout and relax. House is very clean and Host is quick to get back to you if you have any questions! Would stay here again!
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway, and it was perfect - quiet, scenic, and close to great hiking. We would definitely stay here again!
The drive to this property was amazing I don't believe i've ever had to drive so long in order to try and get signal for my phone. this beautiful cabin was mostly a place to sleep right next to what we wanted to do. We came to Vanderpool in order to go to Lost Maples park and just enjoy some alone time. Despite being booked up for the weekend this location was silent. We managed to hear a breeze coming our direction that's how quite it was. the area was in a burn ban so we didn't use the fire ring out back but did appreciate hearing the squirrels skittering along the tin roof. this was the most relaxed i think i have ever been.
We loved staying at the Treehouse! Very clean and cozy. I started each day with coffee on the upper deck, a gorgeous view, quiet surroundings, and sweet little birds visiting the bird feeder. I loved the isolation with no wifi or cell service. We drove to Garner SP and Lost Maples SP for hiking. Very comfortable beds and all the basics were available (coffee pot, dishes, towels, etc). My teen boys liked the brownies and the ability to watch DVDs at night. The stargazing was wonderful too. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
I stayed in the Treehouse cabin. It was extremely clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. Beautiful surroundings, too. My only small concern was that it was a bit cold at night -- but the fireplace and warm blankets helped.
Beautiful area and easy booking. The owners have really done a great job. Loved seeing all the wildlife. We drove the Lower Sabinal River Road all the way and enjoyed the scenery.
