The best area to stay in Hiadna is the Medina, especially for those wanting to experience the historic heart of the city. The Medina is the old walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it's where you'll find many of Hiadna's most iconic sights. It's a labyrinth of narrow alleyways and bustling souks (markets), all centred around the Djemaa el-Fna square. Here, you'll discover traditional riads – guesthouses built around a central courtyard – offering a tranquil escape from the lively streets. For couples seeking a romantic and authentic experience, staying in a riad within the Medina is ideal. You'll be within walking distance of attractions like Bahia Palace and the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa, and you can enjoy evenings wandering through the souks or dining on a rooftop terrace overlooking the city. Many riads offer cooking classes and traditional spa treatments, great for a relaxing getaway.Families with older children who appreciate culture and exploration will also find the Medina a captivating base. The excitement of the Djemaa el-Fna, with its storytellers and street performers, is a great experience. Staying in a riad often means a more personal and intimate setting than a large hotel, and many have small pools in their courtyards, a welcome respite after a day of exploring. If you prefer a more modern, spacious, and resort-like setting, then Hivernage is an excellent alternative. This district is just outside the Medina walls, offering a contrast with its wider avenues, landscaped gardens, and contemporary hotels.Hivernage is particularly well-suited for families with younger children or those who prefer easy access by car. Hotels here often feature larger swimming pools, multiple dining options, and more extensive facilities, including children's clubs and high-end fitness equipment.
