The setting on Long Loch is beautiful . The resturant was 5 star. The included breskfast was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our stay there was a highlight of a fantastic trip

Relaxing Break
The House is lovely its a beautiful building - needs some repairs but nothing stopping you from enjoying it, located in a very rural place not much around - only 1 other place to eat. the view from the house is exceptional and you have a small area to sit on the water front ( stoned ) room was clean and had everything you needed just needs a little updating - staff were very helpful and professional and very welcoming - we were away as a couple for a relaxing weekend and Knockderry provided this well. breakfast was more than enough and tasty - i would say a little bit of TLC is needed and maybe some snack option on the menu - maybe not a place to go with kids - if your looking for a relaxing break then Knockderry is the place to go

Favourite Scottish Country Hotel
Stayed at Knockderry House several times and again this time April 23 it was as fab as ever. Love this hotel. Beautiful location. Absolutely stunning food. Lovely staff. Lovely room. Cant fault it. Cant wait to return again.

The location of this property is magical. The owner and staff are amazing and fun to be around. They love their property and it shows. If you want a quiet, restful, and charming experience in a uniquely beautiful location, then this is it. The food was amazing too. Fantastic little boutique hotel
Fantastic little boutique hotel. Staff were really friendly, couldn’t do enough for you. We got a room upgrade when we arrived which was amazing. The view was fantastic. As for the food, wow! Well presented and very tasty. Sadly we couldn’t do the tasting menu as never gave any notice that we wanted it. Wasn’t disappointed though as the normal menu was very good. The hotel was also dog friendly. A welcome doggy pack was also provided. The hotel was littered with awards, the owner popped in a couple of times to say hello and to check we were receiving the best service. Highly recommend this for a romantic get away.

Lovely old property with lots of character, but suffers from cold. Single glazing probably doesn't help but lots of heaters around and open fires too. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Even though they had not received the booking from Hotels.com they were incredibly accommodating. Got us right into a room & treated us so well. Craig & Laura were so professional & treated us like royalty. Actually all the staff was like that with all the guests. We will definitely be returning

This place is a hidden gem off the beaten path. The staff was amazing! The rooms need a little updating and the carpet needs replaced. Restaurant was pretty good.

This was a wonderful experience. Murdo and Beth are great innkeepers and everything was perfection. The chef was amazing and even sang from the kitchen before dinner time. Laura was a great help with check in, tea time, dinner etc. we had a lovely time there.

Beautiful hotel and location but a few issues
We stayed 1 night in the 4-poster room. Incredible location with amazing view of Loch Long from the window. Short drive from Glasgow but a remote west coast feel, and it's a beautiful drive to get there. The room itself was luxurious and olde-worlde. Big airy bathroom, huge 4 poster bed and comfy chairs by the window (just down the loch from Faslane so you, like us, might get a close-up view of a passing submarine...!) We ate in the restaurant. The food was very good. However the vegan options were not great; none listed on the menu, the kitchen made a vegan option (we had informed them in advance of our vegan diner) but the 'main course' of roasted veg was like a side dish missing a centrepiece. The same has to be said for the room where e.g. some oat milk with the tea making stuff would have been appreciated. Not the worst for vegans by any means but does feel like this hotel hasn't quite caught up. After the meal we had coffee by the fire in the lounge which is cosy, warm and lovely. Unfortunately the next morning the hotel had a water issue as the whole area lost water so we couldn't shower or flush and breakfast options were limited. Breakfast is VERY expensive at £18 per head for the sort of standard offering that is included at many hotels. The water issue wasn't the hotel's fault, and staff were lovely (though v stressed!) but I was surprised not to be offered a discount, at least on breakfast, as apology. Overall a lovely stay but with a few issues

We booked this hotel as it was near the book festival we were attending We didn’t want to have to drive in the dark for our evening meal. The day before we were due to travel and after we had paid a non-refundable deposit the hotel Informed us that they didn’t do dinners on a Sunday night. It was too late to change. The breakfast was another £15 on to of £140 a night and you paid the same for a piece of toast or a full Scottish. There was no one to welcome you at reception or at checkout which were done online. Nothing that you would expect of a 4 star hotel in the rooms either. A most disappointing stay.

A nice, scenic setting and well presented hotel. Rooms are clean but basic. Restaurant was excellent, highly recommend the Leiper menu. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Has potential but owner lets it down!
Hotel has potential to be lovely but currently for the price it is truly lacking! They are VERY understaffed and the worst part is the owner just watches and does not help (even though he likes people knowing the place belongs to him) He lets the place down - the two staff (front desk Lauren and gentleman who works in bar area, very short hair) were lovely! Location is beautiful but there is nothing around so do keep that in mind. Would be nice to have hire options for paddle boards or kayaks from hotel as you have the sea on your doorstep. We had the library suite and it was covered in dead wasps…this needs to be looked at! Overall was a nice stop but unfortunately won’t be back!

Booked a surprise 2 night stay for my partners birthday in one of the four poster £185 per night room. On arrival was show to a room with NO four poster tiny double bed dust and cobwebs everywhere, it was disgusting and extremely disappointed. They offer us a drink on the house for our disappointment and informed me there was no other rooms available. We got moved on the second night to what should have been for 2 nights to a four poster which was a lot better. They still charged me the full amount for our “VERY DUSTY COBWEB ROOM- VERY DISAPPOINTING first night. We will NOT ever be going back there again.

We were very disappointed to learn after the last couple of days that there was a corporate priced menu for breakfast and the continental breakfast was exactly the same as the menu we were offered, but we were paying double the price. On the first two days there were no croissants left, so on the second day I waited 15 minutes for fresh ones to be baked which arrived burnt.. I would really appreciate your feed back on these points and would point out that our breakfast for the five days cost approximately £48 more for exactly the same thing.

Both friends and I booked thru Expedia at basically the same time. Their room was large and beautifully furnished with a bay window facing a castle. Ours was in an addition thru several doors and up the stairs. It was small with a window looking over the dumpsters outside the kitchen. Light over sink was out so lighting was poor. I actually booked first but was given the inferior room. Would have liked something similar with some of the charm that made me choose this property.

The room was advertised as small, but in a four star hotel was pretty basic. The restaurant was very quiet and not relaxing as even the waitress whispered to us. There are nice walks about but not very much else and the guide suggested attractions that were nearer our house than the hotel
