Yabba’s Hut - Hartley Huts

Hartley Huts, 2 hours from Sydney, entry is a 400m dirt driveway. Offers a cosy & convenient retreat. It is a 20-minute drive to Lithgow (the closest town with shops) & the Blue Mountains. Amazing views, starry nights, communal fire pit and peaceful sounds of nature. With 3 beds accommodating 5, amenities include a toilet and shower. The kitchen has a kettle, toaster, air fryer, electric fry pan, fridge, microwave, and communal outdoor barbecue. Neighbours of Collits Inn, perfect for those attending weddings!

The space:
Our huts are uniquely designed to provide a comfortable, warm, and convenient place for a delightful stay with your family or friends.

The huts are located next to each other to share some communal areas; however, each hut has its private kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms.

We are on a 20-acre property with various animals. You are in a rural area, so RECEPTION IS LIMITED. We have provided Wi-Fi, but this works off the reception and may be limited. Take advantage of it and enjoy some time off your phones. If you have trouble, walk a little to find reception and contact hosts!

  • We spent yesterday arvo bush-bashing down to the Zig Zag Railway viaducts above Lithgow, NSW and looking around the place for a few hours. In this shot you can see the No. 1 Viaduct on the Top Road track. A little further down is the larger No. 2 Viaduct. And on the Bottom Road (which is the train line near the bottom of this pic) is the No. 3 Viaduct. Comprising rock cuttings, classical sandstone viaducts and tunnels, the Lithgow Zig Zag was, and remains to this day, a magnificent piece of engineering. Construction of this part of the rail system began in 1866 and was completed by the late 1890s. The line was decommissioned in 1910 with the construction of the Ten Tunnels deviation which is still in use today by state rail. Back in the early 1970s, volunteers worked to bring the line back into operation as an iconic tourist railway which ran for decades, bringing with it tourism dollars to the wider Lithgow area. In 2013, a huge bushfire swept through the area and destroyed a lot of the infrastructure and equipment used by the Zig Zag Railway. Since that day work has proceeded to slowly bring the tourist train line back into operation It is hoped it'll be up and running again in the next year or so. We booked both cabins for an overnight stay after walking the Lost City track the day prior. Location was perfect, hosts welcoming and warm, quiet, clear night sky... felt a million miles from Sydney. Incredibly picturesque location for an evening wine by the fire. Kids loved it.

My partner and I plus his mother, had an excellent stay at Yabba's hut over Christmas. The location was great, so peaceful and relaxing. How's the serenity!! We loved the cabin and the bbq. Being able to sit around the fire pit, watching the stars and satellites was amazing. The wildlife was great, including kangaroos. Thanks to the owners who were very nice.
