However when you look on the map it shows the location in the Old Quarter until you go through to book it - beware of this. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, and a much needed respite from hectic days in the city! One morning I tried to leave and it was just starting to rain/mist and the doorman insisted on loaning me an umbrella - I was grateful since just after I left it started to rain! Would definitely stay here again. The staff are nice and helpful and the amenities are excellent. However I had a room on the first floor, with a window that looked onto the inside of the hotel. There was therefore no natural light and it made it impossible to know whether it was night or day which was a bit depressing unless one just goes to sleep. The toilet was blocked twice although all the other other bathroom facilities are quite nice and clean. It is in a great location that allows you to experience life in Hanoi, with its bustling street life and character, but without being in the middle of the main tourist area. You can walk to the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem lake if you like, although a taxi is a very cheap and convenient option should you prefer. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the Vietnamese breakfast (their pho is fabulous!) is a wonderful way to start the day and keep you going until lunch time. Our room was very generously sized, comfortable and clean, and with double glazing it was very quiet and cool. There are some great places to eat and drink nearby and a good coffee is never far away.
