Elegant and spacious King Hale, set beachfront in a lush tropical jungle, is located in the serene community of Haena, just 4 miles north of Hanalei. Here you will discover beautiful stretches of white sand beaches and the most breathtaking of sunsets. This 4BD/4BA eco-friendly home is built around an elevated open floor plan that is ideal for family gatherings or gracious entertaining. The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances and granite countertops is perfect for intimate meals or large dinner parties. Off the kitchen, a large, round dining table with seating for 8 overlooks the blue Pacific Ocean. Oversized sliding doors to the lanai allow for seamless indoor/outdoor living and capture the gentle tradewinds blowing in off the sea. The living room has two large separate seating areas, a wall mounted flat screen television, a fireplace, and floor to ceiling windows that illuminate the tropical garden and beach beyond. Electronic amenities include DVD/CD players, Home has TV internet (so guests can use their own Netflix account, etc.), Wireless High Speed Internet, and iPod docking stations. the house is eco-friendly with extensive solar, battery backup and near zero carbon-footprint.  There are 3 air conditioned bedrooms on the main upper floor of the home. Two of the rooms are master suites with King beds, flat screen TVs, and ocean views. Both have en suite bathrooms that feature large walk-in showers and soaking tubs. The 3rd guest room has a Queen bed, and ocean views. All rooms have large windows and French doors that lead to ocean view lanais. The ground floor guest suite has its own separate entrance, King bedroom, bathroom and living area with sofa sleeper including a portable air conditioning unit. Home also includes a second complete kitchen in the downstairs apartment. A large gym with gym equipment is also available at the house, including a spin bike, bench, free weights, and yoga gear. Haena beaches offer surfing, shelling, sunning, and (when weather permitting) world class snorkeling. The home is a short distance to the entrance of the famous Kalalau trail which runs along the great Napali Coast. A quick drive to Hanalei town will bring you to a variety of restaurants and charming boutiques. Here you will also find Hanalei Bay, a two-mile white sand crescent beach, which is ideal for surfing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, and good old fashioned swimming. It was exceptional. It is the perfect serene location where we barely saw anyone else but had constant ocean views. There were flowers everywhere. We could hear the waves while we were sleeping. The kitchen was one of the best equipped of any VRBO we have used. There were also many supplies left (sunscreen, salt, pepper, olive oil, etc) from other vacationers that made our stay easier. Views are amazing. Huge kitchen. Plenty of room for 4 adults to lounge about and not feel crowded. Quiet neighborhood. We saw 2 monk seals within walking distance while here! All other reviews mentioned the blinds. They still don’t work. The grill is WAY past its prime, and we didn’t think it was usable. The driveway gate looks like it hasn’t been closed in years, and the electric boxes at the gate were rotted out, so don’t count on that as extra security. The property has beautiful views and plenty of room for our group of 9 to spread out. We enjoyed lounging on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean and reading books. Every morning, we would wakeup to the sunrise and open the accordion doors to get the breeze going thru the living areas (only the bedrooms have AC). The location allowed us access to all of the beauty Kauai has to offer. It is about 45-60 mins from the airport and you can see many of the best places to shop and eat on the ride. Hanalei is a short drive and has a ton of options for food and shopping. Our on island host was very responsive when we had a maintenance item to be addressed. I should add to this review that if you are traveling with children, using the basement bedroom may not be the best option. I read that it had a separate entrance, but I did not realize that meant it could not be accessed at all from the main part of the house. My kids are in their teens, but it still made me nervous that they would have to go outside, up the stairs and through the front door to find me in an emergency. The pull out couch in the basement (one of the sleeping options) could also use a refresh. Lastly, we were very cautious with our noise level (as we always are), since there was a host note left in one of the master bedrooms saying the "neighbor is very sensitive to noise". This may not be the best house for your stay, if your group is on the louder side. ##### Heidi A. Definitely the first of many stays. Great house. Perfect for 8-10 people. Location was amazing. I don't think I'd want to stay anywhere else on the island now. Walk out the back to great beaches, or drive a few minutes to tunnels or Ke'e Beach. Which honestly weren't much better than the beaches within a 5 minutes walk of the house. 10 minute drive to Hanalei for whatever you need. The only only gripe I have about the entire place is the main dining table is a bit wobbly. Not a big deal, just makes for an interesting time around the dinner table. We were a family ranging in ages from 1-85. Between the upstairs spaces and the downstairs apartment everyone had a place of their own. The power did go out once but Kevin responded quickly. We learned that part of the house runs on solar so the refrigerator and oven came back on pretty quickly. We had a local chef, Thomas Ryan, cooking for us that evening. He just went with the flow... It was one of the best meals I have ever had in an amazing location. ##### Debra P. I can't thank you enough for allowing us the privilege of staying there. The home itself was stunning. We did express some concerns to the property manager and while he immediately got back with us, he failed to remedy any issues brought to his attention. Lack of window coverings in the 3rd upstairs bedroom, blinds that would not allow us to open and close them/lower or raise without such a struggle that we were afraid to break them. T.V. that was not opperable in 3rd bedroom upstairs, T.V. in main living quarters had a blue line through the center, doors that would not close or could notbe locked, plantain shudders in 1 master bath that were held together with zip ties and could not be opened, shower head in master bath had a makeshift showerhead holder that made it a constant challenge to get directional accuracy for 6'4" adult and 5'6" adult. (water shot straight out at one height adjustment or the other) Difficulty getting range to light due to igniter needing to be changed for burners, lawn chairs rusted out and daughter with back injury had issue after sitting on one that collapsed. Providing you this list is more for your records so that the issues can be addressed. This home is exquisite and desires the needed attention to keep it in top condition. Knowing that many of these are related to climate, I hope that issues will be addressed so that the home itself gets the attention that it deserves. Mahalo ##### Dean or Penny B. It is well equipped, clean and is in an amazing location. We were able to see the sunrise and sunset almost every day. We did have trouble working the main TV. Sometimes it worked and other times it didn’t, and not sure why. We did contact Ian, and he was willing to send someone out the next day, but magically the TV worked on its own so it wasn’t needed. We did enjoy walking to Tunnels Beach for snorkeling, walking for coffee or dinner and star gazing at night. Such a great place for star gazing! Would definitely recommend staying here if you want some peace and quiet for relaxing. ##### Danielle S. The beach right in front of us is a shallow reef, and we saw monk seal resting and turtle feeding right up the shore.The house is large enough for our family (8 adults and 2 kids). Loved the spacious Kitchen and living room. Would've liked to have a larger dining table, and the BBQ was a bit old and small for the house. They are doing renovation and couldn't accommodate some of the promised amenities, but Kevin was great at keeping us happy. We are sure to come back soon. ##### June O. From the moment we walked in, we knew we made the right decision to stay at King Hale….the views from the home onto the beach were breathtaking! We came to celebrate our Anniversary, wanting someplace special, and we found it here. The location was perfect for long beach walks…Tunnels and Haena close by. Hanalei a short drive away for fun kayaking on the river. We invited two other couples to join us and there was plenty of room for all of us. They were pleasantly surprised at their accommodations for their stay with us. The kitchen is perfectly set up with everything you could need. The home is well stocked with everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay….beach towels, sand toys, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, etc. Our host Ian, was quick to respond to our questions…..we were thankful that the home has solar! Our only concern was the next door neighbor who would fly his drone directly in front of the property. We noticed it on several occasions. We have stayed at other locations on Kauai, but by far, King Hale surpasses them all. We would stay here for our next getaway to Kauai! Mahalo! ##### Karen E.
