Rooms are comfy and the shower was excellent complete with towel warmer. Small fridge in the room was appreciated but there was nowhere to make a cuppa, either in the room or a communal area. We were there for the Parade of Cruisers. It was a very close distance to the tour boats and has large stairs leading down to the river. It is a very cool property. When booking, I looked at each room and selected this one because it was the only room showing a balcony and river view. When we checked in, I was given a room with no view at all. Somewhat deceived, I called the desk and she had one to switch me into saying I had the choice (I didn’t have any choices at booking.) but I appreciated how easy it was to get what I thought I paid for! The hotel is full of fascinating maritime decor and unique pieces of history - we loved to admire the lobby and hotel bar. Parking our car was pretty in the ramp, and was located directly underneath our hotel tower. The only thing I’m bummed about it that given how I booked this hotel for the view, the tower bar was the largest part of that. It was a big draw. My ancestors emigrated out of this harbor so the view was important to me! The tower bar was closed for maintenance the two evenings we were there… we weren’t even allowed to look at it. Had I known, I would have chose a different hotel honestly. We certainly still enjoyed our stay; but we only stayed two days and one night so I was trying to make the most of it.
