Good value for money in a mountain setting
Hotel set below a stark mountain with lovely pool and rustic charm - excellent value for price just 45 minutes from Rhodes airport. We wanted to experience a small village “off the beaten track “.

A real gem of a hotel in a lovely mountain setting
The Ataviros Hotel is the only hotel in Embona and it is fantastic! For our stay it was just perfect. It is very friendly, rustic and comfortable with lovely mountain views, very good breakfast and restaurant, and a really nice pool area.

Great place to stay in a village in the mountains
The room was big and clean, on the pool level which was great. The view to the pool and mountains is lovely, you can stay the whole day in the hotel and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner (near the pool) including a bar. Staff was very nice. The village is small, not a lot of tourists in September, and no real attractions, but staying 2 days was a pleasure (far from Rhodes town tourists..)

We loved our stay. The hotel staff were warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is located at the edge of the village with stunning views all around. The pool area is particularly nice and spacious with bar area for the occasional refreshing drink. The prices in the hotel are comparable with the Tavernas in the town.

Great place to be on the Mid-West Coast of Rhodos.
Great place to be : very quite with splendid view from the swimming pool or the terrace of the room if you are at 1rst or 2nd floor. Nice breakfast.

Small basic hotel, overall good holiday!
Friendly welcome from staff - some more helpful than others. Good air conditioning. Basic room, good for value but poor cleanliness e.g. dusty cupboards. Broken furniture (bed and wardrobe handle). Very small shower with burning hot water coming out of tap below when in use. Large nice pool which was always quiet and enjoyable. Severe lack of sunbeds considering there is space for much more. Breakfast very basic and often left over food from day before. Hotel location very isolated. No public transport except bus twice daily. Would highly recommend renting a car to explore the island. Prices for food and drink seemed to be made up on the spot and varied daily. No proper bills or receipts given. Was given towel one day with pink chewing gum and large dark hair inside. Complained and towel was just replaced. Few restaurants and shops nearby as well as supermarket. Overall a good holiday for what we paid!

Relaxed rural Rhodes
Simple family run hotel in the heart of the island's wine region. Lush gardens with orange, lemon, mandarin & pear trees surrounding a pool (not in use when we visited). Spectacular views and sunsets too for that G&T moment on the terrace. Big breakfast to set you up for the day, home made bread and jams, eggs, cheese and olives, toasted sandwiches and a delicious slab of chocolate cake. Tiny bathroom and the usual Greek hard mattresses but great value for money, lovely family and a chance to experience the island away from the usual seasidey bits.

einfaches Zimmer mit Pool Meer und Bergeblick. komfortabel, bisl Staub hier und da in summe aber Sauberkeit ok. sehr freundlich, familiengeführt. essen gut, die Stadt ist in 1 min erreichbar und die Westküste in 25. nachts angenehm kühl. minus pool etwas trüb und manchmal nervt die dauerbeschallung am Pool, das war aber nur am ersten Tag ungut

Dommage car l'hôtel est agréable ...
Notre séjour à l'hôtel Ataviros a mal débuté et les contrariétés se sont enchainées. Nous avions réservé une chambre au RDC avec vue sur la piscine pour 3 nuits. A notre arrivée, on nous annonce qu'il y a un problème et que la chambre n'est pas disponible mais qu'elle le sera le lendemain. Pour la 1ère nuit, le gérant nous propose une autre chambre, tout à fait correcte, mais ne correspondant pas à notre réservation. Faisant part de notre étonnement qu'une réservation faite 5 mois plus tôt n'ait pas été correctement programmée, le gérant nous sort tout un discours sur des problèmes avec Hotels.com et des tentatives de fraude portées par des hackers. A défaut, nous acceptons la chambre. Le lendemain matin, on nous annonce que notre chambre est disponible. Surprise, elle ne correspond pas à un RDC sur piscine. Nous contestons et palabrons pour finalement rester dans la 1ère chambre. Mesure de représailles ou loi des séries (?), le ménage n'a pas été fait durant les 2 jours. Précision : à Rhodes, on ne jette pas le papier toilette dans la cuvette mais dans une poubelle ... ! Concernant le type de chambre, nous pouvons admettre une confusion due au manque de précision sur le site hotesls.com. Comme l'hôtel est bâti à flanc de colline, il comporte 2 RDC : 1 au niveau de l'accueil, 1 au niveau de la piscine en contrebas. On nous a bien proposé une chambre en RDC, mais au niveau de la route, pas au niveau de la piscine. Sinon, les prestations sont bonnes : belle piscine, PDJ buffet.

Not what I expected it would be
I don't know exactly what it was but I didn't feel very welcome and comfortable at this place... The owners were not happy at all and you could feel the tention very well. It could be a very good place and I hope for them they find the positive vibes back to make this place a pleasant stay again...

Fint hotell uppe i bergen.
En liten annorlunda hotellvistelse på Rhodos om man önskar komma bort från städerna nere vid havet. Bra läge för utflykter i närområdet och en riktigt fin liten badstrand med taverna 15 minuter från hotellet. Att hyra bil är ett måste, men vägarna är fina med lite trafik och naturen är överraskande vacker. Hotellet ligger i den lilla vinbyn Emponas och byborna är mycket stolta över sina lokala produkter. På dagarna kommer det en rad turistbussar och det bjuds på vinsmakning och lunch. På kvällarna är det betydligt lugnare och endast ett par tavernor är öppna. De sista kvällarna valde vi att äta på hotellet och det var riktigt bra. Härligt att sitta och smutta på det lokala vinet och se solen gå ner i havet. Poolen är fin och välskött och poolområdet erbjuder fin avkoppling.

Alles war super. Vom Service, Essen, Pool, Sauberkeit und und und... besonders die Freundlichkeit der Besitzer ist so toll. Man fühlt sich wie Zuhause. Mit kleinem Kind genau das Richtige. Kinderbett war auch vorhanden. Die Dusche könnte ein bisschen größer sein. Sonst gibt es von uns nichts zu kritisieren. Der Ort Embona bietet viele kulinarische Highlights. Liegt wunderschön sm Berg Ataviros.

Super Hotel für ruhigen Urlaub
Super Lage kleines ruhiges Hotel wenn man keinen Trubel will, da abseits gelegen aber auf Fahrzeug angewiesen, tolle Aussicht gerade die Sonnenuntergänge sind fantastisch, nette Menschen sehr hilfsbereit und immer bemüht die Anlage in Ordnung und sauber zu halten . Einziges Manko aber wie oft in Griechenland sind für uns die kleinen Bäder bzw Duschen. Jederzeit weiter zu empfehlen

Een goed gelegen hotel met ruime kamers, groot en goed onderhouden zwembad. Heel aangename uitbaters. Uitgebreid en lekker ontbijt. Omdat het hotel op 800m hoogte ligt, is het 's avonds aangenaam koeler. Er is wel degelijk een goedwerkende airconditioning in de kamer, maar die heb je dan niet nodig. We hadden een kamer beneden met een aangenaam terrasje onder een citroenboom. Heel fijn om daar te aperitieven. Het enige minpuntje waren de niet zo comfortabele matrassen.

All' arrivò siamo stati accolti da personale quasi scontroso. Il parcheggio non esiste ( 4 posti in totale). La stanza scelta era occupata da altri, ci è stata data dopo due giorni che abbiamo passato in una stanza a piano terra sulla strada con chiusura saracinesca...chiaramente non va dimenticato che è un posto molto economico...

Il suffirait d'une rénovation de la décoration pour que cet hôtel soit parfait. La piscine et ses abords sont parfaits car ils viennent d'être rénovés avec goût. Le dîner était excellent.

Sehr nette Familie und schöne Umgebung
Bergdorf mitten in der Natur, wunderschöne Wege und Landschaften rundum, das Meer nahe, viel zu erkunden. Die Betreiberfamilie ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Man hat das Gefühl wirklich willkommen zu sein. Das Zimmer ist einfach aber zweckmäßig, sauber. Täglich wird alles aufgeräumt. Die Ausstattung des Gartens ist ebenfalls ansprechend, mit vielen Pflanzen und Zitronenbäumen (auch wenn wir im April hier waren und natürlich den Pool nicht nutzen konnten, da es noch recht kühl draußen war, ist sichtbar, dass dies im sommer sehr nett sein muss) Die Betreiberin kocht selbst, traditionell und wunderbar, wir haben gerne hier gegessen.

Sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung
Wir haben uns an den vielen guten Bewertungen orientiert. Als wir ankammen war der Pool sehr dreckig. Es hieß die Pumpe wäre kapputt, aber am nächsten Tag sollte es repariert werden. Das Zimmer war auch nicht sauber. Das ist sehr unüblich in Griechenland. Wir haben erst Mal den Kühlschrank putzen müssen um den überhaupt nutzen zu können. Dann kam unsere 2 Jährige Tochter mit einer Packung Tabak in der Hand die sie in ihren Nachtisch gefunden hatte: geputz wurde also vor unsere Ankunft nicht. Abends funktionierte das Fernseher nicht, sollte aber am nächsten Tag repariert werden. Ein Tag darauf, als wir Nachmittags von unseren Ausflug zurückkamen, war das Zimmer nicht geputzt, der Pool immer noch dreckig, das Fernsehen kaputt und keiner da der Englisch sprechen konnte. Es hieß der Manager wäre in Rhodos Stadt und käme erst am nächsten Tag zurück. Warmes Wasser gab es auch nicht. Es sollte repariert werden. Als es soweit war, war fast Mitternacht. Als wir uns am nächsten Tag entschieden zu gehen, kam der Manager zurück und wurde Laut und Unfreundlich. Er sagte wenn wir früher abreisen müssten wir trotzdem den vollen Aufenthalt bezahlen. Erst nach Rücksprache mit den Booking-service war es möglich den restlichen Aufenthalt abzusagen. Ich kann das Hotel leider gar nicht empfehlen. Es mag sein das wir mit allem Pech hatten, Fehler können passieren, aber die Art und Weise vom Manager mit dem Problem umzugehen war unmöglich.

Kleines Hotel am Rande des Dorfes Emponas. Kleine Abstriche beim Komfort/Ausstattung - bei 2 Sterne jedoch noch akzeptabel. Frühstück sehr übersichtlich bzw täglich das gleiche aber noch ausreichend. Positiv: ruhige Lage/guter Ausblick, großer Pool, Klimaanlage, freundliches/bemühtes Personal, Restaurant typisch Griechisch/bodenständig Negativ: zu kleines Zimmer + Bad für 2Erw.+2Kinder, Zustellbett veraltet (quietscht), nur 1 kleiner Kleiderschrank, kleiner Kühlschrank, veralterter kleiner Röhren-TV (nur ZDF in deutsch), WLAN/Internet sehr schwach bzw kaum nutzbar, Dusche veraltet/reparaturbedürftig

Esperienza positiva
Premessa: se state cercando la "movida" di Faliraki o il "glamour" di Lindos, forse è meglio lasciar perdere Embonas - un tranquillo (molto...) paese di montagna quasi al centro dell'isola. Se invece gradite una soluzione alternativa, lontana dalla confusione, dove respirare l'aria fresca e tranquilla di un pittoresco paesino, allora l'hotel Ataviros fa per voi. Troverete una famiglia che vi accoglierà al meglio e un ambiente rilassato, e soprattutto "genuinamente greco". La location esterna è davvero molto gradevole, con una bellissima piscina attorno a cui vi sono lettini e divanetti, e dove la sera si può cenare con tradizionali piatti greci (ma non solo). I gestori sono gentili - specialmente i due ragazzi più giovani, che parlano un inglese perfettamente comprensibile e sono sempre disponibili ad ascoltare le richieste sino a tarda ora. Le camere sono spaziose, mentre il WC è molto piccolo (senza bidet: in Italia siamo abituati bene...) e gli arredi avrebbero forse bisogno di essere rimpiazzati. La prima mattina il buffet per la colazione pareva un po' povero al confronto di certi altri alberghi... Ma ci siamo accorti che in realtà c'era tutto quello che occorreva: yogurt originale fantastico da gustare col miele; marmellate fatte in casa; succo di frutta, panini e pane in cassetta, un po' di affettati e formaggio. L'ultima mattina la stessa tavola mi è sembrata ricchissima... Alla fine siamo lontani dal lusso, ma il rapporto qualità/prezzo è buono. Lo consiglio.

En härlig vecka, mysig by med vackra omgivningar på berget Ataviros. Vinprovning i nästan varenda butik i byn. De var stolta över sina egna produkter som oliver, olivolja, kapris, soltorkade tomater, honung, souma och vin såklart. Hotellet är i enklare stil, men fräscht. Härlig pool och välutrustade rum. Vi bodde i familjerummet och där fanns tom tvättmaskin och två toaletter . Wi-Fi funkade bäst i receptionen och vid poolen. Mkt prisvärt. Rekommenderas

Stilla och lugn semester med fin pool
Vi bodde här en vecka - fick tag i billiga flygbiljetter men vill inte bo mitt i turiststråket. Hotellet ligger en bit upp i bergen, så man behöver ha tillgång till bil. Det tar minst en halvtimme till havet. Byn är lite sömnig, men det finns flera tavernor. Fin pool med fantastisk utsikt över Rhodos högsta berg. Mycket trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Rummet var enkelt, men rent - typisk grekisk hotellstandard. Helt ok frukost. Kan verkligen rekommendera en semester på Rhodos "baksida", som för oss var helt rätta sidan.

The owners of the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The food and wine at the hotel were delicious and fairly prices. our room for two people was very clean and spacious. Pretty backyard with refreshing swimming-pool and amazing view on the mountains and sunset. Positive experience!
