About this property
1930s Waterfront Cottage on Tuttle's Point
Remember 'doing the dishes' with family members and friends? Do you love an outdoor shower? Visit this charming 1930's summer cottage with direct water access, large screened porch with wonderful 180 degree views of Long Island Sound. Little White Top is unpretentious and comfortable, designed to allow for carefree and peaceful holidays.
The long and airy screened porch overlooking the water is the hub of the home, where everyone wants to gather to read and converse, sharing breakfast, lunch, or cocktails. And it's a wonderful place to watch a thunderstorm! The cottage comfortably sleeps 6 people, with 2 bedrooms on the first floor with queen beds, and 3 bedrooms on the second floor, one with a queen bed, one with a double bed, and the third with a double bed and 2 twin beds. There is ample parking on the property for 4 cars.
Moor your own boat in the waters off the shore. Easy launching of kayaks and canoes can be done directly from the property and from the beach just down and around the corner. Kids can choose to paddle around the protected waters off Tuttles Point or go out to the various rock islands and explore the tide pools there. More adventurous adults can embark on longer paddles to Faulkner's Island Island Light or to Sachem's Head or the Thimble Islands. Enjoy picnics on the front lawn, with ample space for children to play. Sun yourselves and take a dip at the water's edge or take the little ones 600 feet down the hill to the sandy Association Beach.
The protected waters off Tuttles Point offer swimming, fishing, and kayaking and their protected nature is especially good for children. At all tides, ospreys, herons, gulls, and other shorebirds seek out these waters and the rich marshlands nearby.
You may notice in the listing there is no TV! Little White Top is the kind of place where you can step aside from your usual routine, listen to one another and the coastal sounds. You are in a different place and there is a strong tradition of Monopoly and Scrabble here!
Tuttles Point is a quiet, low-key residential neighborhood in a private association with its own beach, in the historic town of Guilford. Guilford Town Center offers interesting shopping and fine dining, Shakespeare on the Green in August, as well as craft and antique shows. A Pick-Your-Own farm/orchard is an 8 minute drive from the Cottage. Collect some berries and bake a pie in the simple but well appointed kitchen! Biking and hiking trails are easily accessible, as well as the local Whitfield House Museum. The Peabody Natural History Museum and the British Art Museum at Yale University are a 1/2 hour drive to be enjoyed along with Frank Pepe's Pizza in New Haven, considered to be the very best! Rentals are from Friday to Friday. Arrivals or departures outside of this standard may be possible. Please inquire with host. We look forward to welcoming you to this very special spot!

We had a fantastic week. The house is perfect, the view magical, and it was so nice to be able to walk to the little beach down the road. A perfect spot! Thank you!
This is a classic old school New England beach "cottage" - clean, lovely, comfortable! Unfortunately we were only staying for one night but the property manager was able to accommodate our needs. That lovely screen porch was the perfect place to relax and reconnect with family and to greet the sunrise the next morning! Great location near some old favorite Guilford spots - The Place, Ashley's Ice Cream and Bishop's Orchard. Thank you!
We loved our time at Little White Top. The house is super clean and has large bedrooms and a really well-stocked kitchen. The big screened porch overlooking the water was a perfect place to play games, eat and just hang out. On calm days we enjoyed kayaking off the beach just down the road. We hope to stay here again!
This is the beach house of my childhood. I love how rustic it is. I love how well stocked it is. I love the porch. I love swimming off the rocks in the front yard.
We will be back!!!!!!
This cottage was a winner! Luckily we had good weather on our side. Lots of fans and light. Felt like going back in time to a slower pace. So peaceful. Loved the sunsets/rises from the porch! Beach access was terrific.
Very charming cottage reminiscent of childhood summers
The house is charming and no frills from a by-gone era, which we loved. Lovely, quiet neighborhood, well-equipped kitchen. We suffered a bit during the evenings when temperatures did not drop or there was no breeze coming off the coast. Unfortunately, with rising temperatures and humidity, sleeping at night could be quite uncomfortable when only fans are an option.
Tuttles Point is a hidden gem of a neighborhood. I spent my summers as a child in this neighborhood, and I wanted to share my love for this area with my family. This cottage was perfect for what we needed. The view is beautiful and there is so much character in the home that you forget that you might be missing some of our modern comforts. My children loved the rocks out back, the beaches and all the activities in close proximity to this home.
If you’re looking for a place to disconnect m, this is your place.while you’re here, be sure to visit “The Place” for dinner; it’s a one of a kind experience and fun for the whole family. We’ll be back!
We had a wonderful stay! The kitchen was well outfitted and the beach was perfect for our little grandson. Great kayaking, biking, hiking and of course, eating! Backyard and porch were awesome.

wonderful seaside cottage!
My wife, two daughters and I had a spectacular time staying in this exquisite seaside cottage. It has a magnificent screened-in porch, very comfortable bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Its also wonderfully furnished.
We're very much looking forward to our next stay!
We had such a relaxing time sitting on the porch watching the water and taking an occasional paddle around the sound. Nearby Jacob's Beach was fun with the kids and Red Barn and the Place. Great place to unwind and slow down.
Step back to the good ole beach days! Spectacular front porch lots of space for family to spread out. Grass lawn on water for or football games. And Guilford is a Gem! Can't wait for our next visit!

Beautiful Sea View
We loved the porch and sea views!! Vintage beach cotrage with lovely furnishings and full kitchen. We had a summer heat wave and upstairs got very hot but main floor was nice with sea breeze and fans. Upstairs cooled off at night and after heat wave. Great retreat for my family!!
A wonderful, original old home right on the water. We all really enjoyed the great screened porch and location. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and we all loved the colorful fiesta dishes! Unfortunately the week we visited was pretty hot so it got quite warm in the upstairs but the fans cooled it off somewhat at night. In addition to the beach down the road we spent a lot of time in the yard and swimming off the rocks. We had a nice relaxing week!
We wanted to get away and relax with family and friends. This cottage was the perfect setting for reconnecting - and unplugging! We had more than enough room for 7 adult guests. There were plenty of bed linens . The kitchen was well appointed. And various design elements (fiesta dishwater, for example) gave the sense of being transported back in time. The setting is perfect for anyone who loves the shoreline. It is rocky. And that brought back happy childhood memories- we used to scamper from rock to rock. We were more deliberate in choosing our steps now. There is a sandy beach very close by. The owner went above and beyond - very welcoming and helpful. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
If you love old houses, you'll enjoy your stay here. The cottage has a vintage, quirky vibe--definitely not a Martha Stewart space! The best aspect was the porch overlooking the cove--a perfect place to read, visit and share meals. Even though there are homes very close to the cottage on each side, it was quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms were immaculate and the beds were very comfortable. I failed to notice that the cottage did not have air conditioning and we stayed during a heat wave, so it was quite uncomfortable some days. The upstairs likely got up to over 100 degrees during the day (it literally felt like an oven), but the whole house fans worked wonders and the upstairs was tolerable by the evening. The location of the cottage is ideal. You can quickly get to Hammonasset State Park (where there is a nice beach), the grocery store, coffee houses, restaurants, shops and independent book stores. I also had lovely walks around the neighborhood. Communication with the owner was great before our stay, but she did not respond quickly to two concerns we had during our stay; in one case it took over 24 hours for her to respond. To be fair, she had just lost her property manager, but I would have appreciated a more timely response to my concerns.
Lovely spacious cottage, with beautiful views of Long Island Sound. Screened porch my favorite room where we enjoyed many spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Well stocked kitchen and ample linens too. Host very helpful and check in and check out could not be easier.
We had a great stay at this cottage. Escaping from NYC with a couple of friends and their teen daughter, the screened in porch and view were highlights of this property. We had numerous bar-b-ques, enjoyed relaxing on the porch and going to the nearby local beach to swim and kayak (a local service rented us kayaks and delivered them). The beach that is nearest does not have a sandy bottom, so if you aren't used to lake swimming I would definitely recommend water shoes. (This California girl still isn't used to the rocky and sometimes slimy floor in LI Sound). But there are also other beaches within a short drive.
Just before our arrival there was a power outage in CT from a strong storm, our host was extremely accommodating, keeping us up to date on the status so that we could arrive once the power was back on.
We did arrive during a heatwave, and it was quite hot without the AC, but there were plenty of fans and once the weather broke a little it was absolutely lovely with the breeze coming through.
I would highly recommend for a relaxing vacation and spending fun time with family or friends.
This is a beautiful old beach house, with a rocky shore which the healthy and buff can swim off. It is not small child safe. It has a great screen porch, where we spent most of our time and was wonderful for watching a mega thunderstorm.
Kitchen is new and modern, bathrooms are idiosyncratic, but work (there is a septic system) The shower is under the deck and you have to go outside to get to it, but it is lavish and modern.
Wifi was fast and broad. No A/C.
The beaches are muddy bottomed, and the best one is private and not included with this house.
Fabulous sunrises from the screen porch!
We had a family reunion and had to change dates a few times and Christina was super flexible and helpful. The house itself was the perfect amounts of peaceful, rustic, and accessible. We watched the fireworks from Madison and Guilford for the 4th of July and completely enjoyed watching our 3, 5, and 6 year olds enjoy the shoreline summer experience. Christina’s instructions and directions were super clear and the house was as advertised. Do note that getting to the shower is a 10 step walk around the outside of house but is perfectly modern and private. Also, upstairs during a hot, muggy day gets somewhat uncomfortable. But neither of those issues turned out to bother us at all as we enjoyed being outside on nice days and loved the fresh air off the Long Island Sound at night. Will for sure come again! Thanks!
