While the rooms were a bit dated they were very comfortable and clean. The daily breakfast spread and sauna are both stand-out. The only thing to note is that the hotel is located at a high elevation from the main road (resulting in a stunning view) but it is a hike to get to. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast is ample and satisfying and the staff are very friendly. The only thing you need to know before booking is- as with most places in Switzerland, there is no AC. You will have to sleep with windows open which can create a need to interact with other guests who may ask you to quiet down or whom you may ask to quiet down. This happened to us, but was not a big deal. More important to know, this hotel is not "in town", it is a 10 minute or so walk down into town and a serious climb back out. There is a bus, but it stops at 7 so you cannot have a late night in Grindelvald unless you are in good shape to walk back up the hill. - It worked for us because we were looking for quiet...if you are hoping to hop between hotel and town several times a day, it might now work so well.
