Absolutely terrible hotel, wouldn't stay there again if it were free. The room had a strange smell to it but, as the the windows could not be opened it was impossible to get any fresh air in. Worst of all though the bedside lamp was so worn that a wire was exposed and it was flickering on and off. The hotel obviously knew about it as you could see where electrical tape had been used in the past to repair it. As it was hard wired into the wall it couldn't simply be replaced. I complained to the staff who said there was nothing they could do as there were no spare rooms. I asked to speak to a manager but non are avaliable, or on call, over the weekend. As an aside, I also noticed that fire doors were being held open with fire extinguishers, whilst that may have been done by guests, staff were in that area so must gave been aware. I have photographs if the hotel management wish to discuss it.

Only fault I could find was the shower, water dribbled out, other than that really nice, staff was friendly, food was great

Location was convenient for Download, no lift, cleaners didn’t clean the room for the 3 days we were there

Rooms were very warm with no air conditioning.

I loved the look of this period property, exceptionally well maintained, exquisitely decorated, and real value for money
