I read reviews before we booked at Maryloujohn Villas. The hotel met all expectations and matched the hotel's own representations. The room was small, as stated, but very clean and comfortable. We had a small refrigerator, a two burner hot plate on which we made coffee each morning, and some plates, cups and utensils. We are very frugal travelers so we appreciated being able to store some basics and have breakfast and an evening snack in our room. Keep in mind that you are not booking at a luxury resort. Maryloujohn Villa is a lovely Santorini house that was converted to about 8 rooms for guests. The views of the caldera are marvelous. It was very windy when we were on the island so we did not get to enjoy the multiple outdoor patio/deck areas that have great views in all directions, it was just too cold for that. However, if we had been travelling in the summer months, the outdoor space would be spectacular. We liked staying in Oia because of the views and quiet and it was easy to explore the island. We rented a car. Because the weather was cold, we made use of the modern ac/heating unit, and on heat mode, it kept us nice and cozy at night. For travelers looking for a well-priced, clean and simple room, this is the place for you. After reading other reviews, it would appear that some people do not appreciate a well-priced, clean and simple room and then wrote negative comments about Maryloujohn Villas. We loved our stay there and would go back again!
