Our rooms at the Royal Oak were small but comfortable. The bathroom was modern and spacious. There is a steep flight of stairs to access the rooms so if you have mobility challenges that would be something to consider. It was pretty noisy in the evenings but quieted after 10:30-11:00 so we slept well. The location was great- right on the village square. The staff were very nice and helpful. We stayed one night in Ghyll. The room was spacious and clean with a nice bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. There was no loud noise from the pub or outside. We had an evening meal in the pub. It was good food - decent portions, delicious & hot. The pub has a super beer garden out the back. We had breakfast which is over the road - this was also very nice. We only had one hot drink included in the breakfast but didn’t mind paying for another. Obviously missed the meaning of "hospitality" in the industry, or was unable to fry two eggs at once!
