"Great location, provided parking and was on the edge of the old part of Trier making it easy to go and visit. Staff were helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay!"
"Helpful staff, clean spacious room, restaurant with reasonable selection of good food. Good choice at breakfast buffet.
Close to River Mosel could not see as Mway and buildings in way. On a main road. Good frequency of bus service to centre of Trier 6 km distant.
Good value for money"
"We had to leave one night earlier due to urgent family circumstances and the lady was so kind to refund the breakfast and a big part of the night we had to cancel. We will definitely go back, friendly staff, good breakfast and a restaurant inside the hotel."

Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra
10/10 Excellent
"Location was right across the street from sights, dining and shopping. View of gate from room was incredible! AC wasn't great, but the room has a huge window that you can open and a cool breeze blows in easily. They also provide a nice fan that keeps the room comfortable. "
"Restaurant was closed and staff was not very helpful with other restaurant recommendations. Room was old and not comfortable, but expected for price. "
"This is a beautiful hotel right in the heart of the lovely city of Trier. The room was immaculate, spacious and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, and I even received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine simply because it was my birthday, during my stay. I have stayed in few finer hotels."
"We loved the pool area, but were disappointed not all the saunas and steam areas seemed to be working. The wellness area had outdated workout equipment but we loved the options for racquetball and ping pong. Getting here is a hassle if you don’t have a car. There is a grocery store and little toy shop very close to the hotel (but you’ll have to walk your groceries up hill to get back to the hotel without a car - Just a warning since we saw some unhappy faces as we drove past them). We loved the pool table downstairs in the bar and our balcony was spacious with great views. It seemed by the overall look of the hotel that it was luxurious back in its day of maybe the 80s or 90s. I didn’t mind it at all and would stay here again! "
"Fabulous from start to finish! Welcome drink on arrival, early access to our room which was in the cottage, we ate in the restaurant, the food was very good, staff very attentive and lovely wines. Swimming pool was great and the sauna. Great location and will definitely stay again."
The most popular time to visit Gondorf is during the summer months, particularly in July, when the weather is warm and inviting. During this peak season, temperatures typically range from 20 to 25 Celsius, creating superb conditions for outdoor exploration and leisurely activities.
As the summer unfolds from June to August, the picturesque landscape of Gondorf comes alive with vibrant greenery and blooming flowers. This is an ideal time for hiking and cycling along the scenic trails that wind through the surrounding countryside. Additionally, the charming village atmosphere is enhanced by local festivals and events, providing visitors with a chance to immerse themselves in the region's culture.
For those who appreciate a more tranquil experience, consider visiting in late spring or early autumn. September, in particular, offers beautiful weather, with temperatures still pleasant, averaging around 18 to 22 Celsius, while often presenting a quieter atmosphere as the summer crowds dissipate. This month often features fewer tourists, allowing you to explore the area's attractions at a leisurely pace, and it can be a more budget-friendly option as accommodations and activities may be slightly cheaper.
