It is walkable to the city centre (around 15 minutes), but there are also good public transport links both to the city centre and to the airport and Palexpo. If you arrive in the evening and need to eat, there's an Italian restaurant a couple of doors down on the corner that does good food. There's also a Japanese restaurant opposite. The only shock I had was the final bill being more than I'd anticipated when I booked, but that's because of city tax being added. There are frequent bus connections as well to Nations (bus 8 and 11). Gare Cornavin (rly stn) is also within walking distance but if you have luggage then take bus no.8 going the other direction. The City-Centre and Old town are also connected via Bus 8 (stop Metropole). The breakfast is good but you get the same things every day which makes it unattractive from day3 onwards if staying longer. No hot meals in the breakfast - which is also a negative factor. The front desk staff is helpful. All of them speal English otherwise the default language is French.
