"We loved our time at the Hjelle Hotel!! It was our favorite place in Norway. We only wished we had been able to stay longer. The location is absolutely beautiful. Nothing like looking out your window and seeing the beautiful lake and mountains. Lorenz and his staff were kind and welcoming hosts. We ate several meals at the hotel restaurant and everything was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel! "

"The views from this guest house are spectacular. Our host, Ian, was attentive, informative, and helpful in every way. The room was very comfortable and well-furnished. There was some confusion in finding the guest house--I forgot to write down the phone number to contact our host--but staff at the nearby hotel helped us find our host. The guest house is located 3 km from Geiranger up a very steep hillside, so with our heavy luggage, it was necessary to have transportation, since we didn't have a car. Some of the statements on the Hotels.com website about this property are misleading. There is no spa, and there is no restaurant. The restaurant is located in the nearby hotel, and our host has an arrangement with this hotel to serve breakfasts there. The guest house has a well-equipped kitchen, and guests are encouraged to prepare their own meals. There is no microwave oven, so preparing meals required more effort than we were inclined to do. Again, I want to emphasize that the charm of the guest house, the location and views, and Ian, the very accommodating host, made this a truly special place to stay."
