Its large terrace has an 11 metre infinity pool and outdoor jacuzzi with views up to 100 miles (160km) into Morocco. One guest described the villa as "simply exceptional, with views that will not be bettered anywhere in Spain." It is equipped to a very high standard and is a perfect place for peaceful, relaxing family-and-friends gatherings at all times of the year. It is a new villa and is neighbour to Villa Djebel Musa that we also manage (which has 90 x 5-Star reviews). Gaucin is 600 metres (2000 ft) above sea level and the villa has open views of the wild, rolling countryside of the Genal River valley to the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and North Africa. Its hilltop position and altitude moderates the temperature during the summer making it more pleasant compared to the coast or inland-Spain. The centre of Gaucin is only 5 minutes walk and has several tapas, three fine-dining restaurants and grocery shops. The pool is 12m x 4m with an infinity edge facing south and west. An electric cover can be closed to keep a better temperature overnight during the spring and autumn. The jacuzzi is not heated and can accommodate 10 people - it can be heated on special request for an extra charge. The villa, swimming pool and gardens are completely private and are not overlooked. The large ground floor and all the bedrooms have floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the pool, jacuzzi, orchard, the Mediterranean and Morocco beyond. 4 bedrooms have French windows and their own balcony. All 6 bedrooms are air-conditioned. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with WC and shower with the two bedrooms on the top floor also including a bathtub. The interior is modern with comfortable furnishings and a well-equipped, spacious chef’s kitchen with 2 hobs, 2 ovens and 2 dishwashers. There is a large kitchen island with seating. The indoor dining table seats 12 people. On the terrace by the kitchen is a pergola providing shade for the outdoor dining table. Electric awnings extend to provide shade over the terrace as required. The sitting room has large sofas that comfortably seat 12 people. There is an 85" 4K TV with some international channels and Netflix etc and a fireplace for the cooler months. All rooms have underfloor heating. There is fibre internet with Wifi throughout the house. There is off-street, covered parking for 3 cars and space for another car in the street outside. The villa is partly powered by solar panels helped by Gaucin having nearly 300 days of sunshine a year and is 'off-the-grid' for some of the year. We love visiting Gaucin and staying in the villa, refreshed by the big skies and exceptional views, the spacious rooms, relaxing around the pool, walking in the countryside, the spectacular spring flowers and local wildlife. We love eating out in the village, either tapas or at one of the three excellent, 'fine dining' restaurants. Aside from exploring the village and its castle, there are great day trips to local towns like Ronda, Setenil de las Bodegas, Grazalema, beaches on the Mediterranean or Atlantic coasts, drives through spectacular mountain countryside, the nearby pre-historic caves with 40,000 year old paintings or hiking through the spectacular Caminito del Rey. For nature lovers, there is excellent local birdwatching including from the villa - Gaucin is on the main migration route for birds in spring and autumn and guests will see large birds soaring over the village throughout the year. The basic rate indicated is for 6 guests staying. For each additional guest up to a max of 12 there is an additional charge to cover extra laundry and cleaning which is added to your quote. Final cleaning is shown as "Host Fee" in your quote. Children are welcome but parents should consider that they will need constant supervision in the garden, swimming pool and jacuzzi and that there are steep drops beyond the pool's infinity edge and overflow. The pool has a shallow end for less confident swimmers of 1.3m/4 ft and 1.8m/5'10" at the deep end. There are local chefs or cleaners available if you wish to arrange daily service - though with chefs it is best to book well in advance in high season. The pool will be cleaned in the early morning during your stay. My family of 10 stayed in Villa Estrella for 6 days. Our host was extraordinarily helpful. Besides excellent directions to the villa, he provided detailed information about local markets, restaurants, hikes, and particulars about the villa, all of it very helpful. He was immediately available before and during our stay.The villa is perfect. The photos do not do it justice as fabulous as they are! It sits at the far end of Gaucin, a charming white village, located within driving distance of Ronda as well as the beach towns on the cost.The streets of the village are narrow and hilly. Rent as small a car as you can. You do not need to drive within Gaucin except to leave, everything of interest is walkable.The streets re narrow, hillt, and winding.
