This is a private vacation house on the Smith River and completely furnished with all modern conveniences. Very private on one acre of land. All landscaped by nature with many pine, cedar, fir and madrone trees. Our vacation home is located within the Smith River National Recreation Area along the banks of this pristine river. Only eight miles to the west is Redwood National and State Parks where some of the tallest redwood trees in the world reside. Twenty miles west is the Pacific Ocean and the southern entrance to the Oregon coast. Fifty miles east are the Oregon Caves National Monument. We have 150 feet of riverfront property where you can, swim, snorkel, kayak, canoe, raft, fish, or just relax and enjoy the scenery. If you are into winter steelhead fishing this is the place to be, December thru March. There are several fishing spots on the property and in the area we can guide you too. When the river level is at the bottom of the ramp fishing is perfect right there! If you are in the area come by and check us out. We are right on the waters edge at 600 Gasquet Flat Rd, Gasquet, Ca. Look for the 'BMH LODGE' sign on the pine tree in front yard. This was the perfect place to take a few days and reset while on an extended road trip down the Oregon coast and then back up through central Oregon. They had everything you could ever need to have a family game night inside around a cozy wood stove or out back on the deck grilling. There was plenty of room for my large family and the host was very accessible to answer questions all along the way. The hiking in that region is spectacular. The Smith River is probably one of the most beautiful rivers I've seen. I'm an old guy, I've seen a lot of rivers and lakes. The sleeping accommodations were great and the beds were very comfortable. Marian, the host, is a gem! Terrific communication and readily available when we had a slight challenge with the hot water. She delivered some fresh eggs to us one afternoon which we thoroughly enjoyed the next morning. I would highly recommend staying at the BMH. ##### Steve A. I had read reviews of the home and expected a clean and comfortable stay, but my expectations were exceeded and it's worth another mention in this review! The cabin is spotless, the kitchen is stocked, the deck furniture is clean and comfortable, the appliances are clean and working beautifully, the bathrooms were lovely, and the beds perfect! I visited with my family and our German Shepherd dog and we did not feel the age of the cabin at all. We hiked the Redwoods, which are just next door, each morning and came back to our cabin to enjoy the deck and playing in the cleanest river I've ever visited each evening. On top of that Marian ended up being a wonderful and warm host, so kind and as welcoming as the cabin. I truly have nothing bad to say about this place and would encourage anyone to book this place, pets or no pets! ##### Natasha T. The redwoods and the Smith River are so relaxing especially on the wraparound deck that overlooks the river. The cabin has everything one could possibly need but I do wish the living room still had a second television (with a family being there not everyone wants to watch the same shows in the evening). Gasquet is so beautiful and the people are very welcoming. Our host Marian is just the sweetest gal in town and was very helpful with daily activities. My pups already miss the river and lounging in the sunroom or on the deck. We hiked Stout Grove which was spectacular! We took our girls cliff jumping at Myrtle Beach near Hiouchi where there was also a great swimming hole. The cabin itself is fully equipped for cooking a family meal and enjoying our meal out on the deck while viewing the fantastic wildlife. Can’t wait to come back! ##### Amy A. This home welcomes and embraces you when you walk in. The home itself is cozy & filled with character and has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The main living area is SO comfortable, with a large TV, if you can pull yourself away from looking at the Smith River through the expanse of windows allowing you great views (not to mention the peaceful sound of the river). A large comfortable back deck provides an even better view of the river and a great place to enjoy coffee and take it all in. Bedding is almost too comfortable. Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is just down the road and is a magical place. Walking among these majestic, ancient trees leaves you in awe (and feeling a bit small and humble). This place definitely seeps into your soul, leaving you with a sense of calm, peace and serenity. And last, but definitely not least, Marian is a true delight. We had a problem with our e-mail before we arrived and she made sure we had everything we needed to get there and met us when we arrived. We really enjoyed meeting and talking with her and she was so helpful making sure our stay was wonderful. This is a place to make very special memories, which we definitely did. Hardest thing was leaving - we drove across the country from the east coast to get here, thinking it would be a one time trip, but after our stay here, we can't wait to come back!!!
