First of all there is no elevator while we were 76 year old couple. Going to 3rd fl was pain. We paid for three guest in advance for 4 nights and we went there, the reception wanted us to pay for 3rd person in room Rs 3500 per day. We had to literally fight about it by showing them the Expedia Receipt for advance payement. They would still not agree until we told them (threatened rather) that we would put it on social media.
Food was ok. Kitchen staff was great though!
A beautiful heritage property located in a walkable, partial steep walk to pedestrianised shopping area with bars and restaurants, amazing views all around. Expect minor property age related issues and facilities.
Excellent service from local based employees. Good food and lovely and friendly people.
You will be mesmerized by the beautiful location & view of the property. The manager,Mr.Basudev goes out of the way to make you feel comfortable.Rooms are very spacious & all the staff are very warm with their service.
They put us up in a room on the 2nd floor - was a difficult climb for us - we are a couple aged 65 & 75 years; and my husband being a heart patient - that was tough! Rest was all good.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Food was good, Service was excellent. We highly recommend this hotel. Excellent views of Kanchenjunga.
Undoubtedly, the best hotel and staff you can find in hills. My daughter and wife just loved the hotel for its magnificent hospitality. View from the garden area and garden area itself in the hotel is amazing :-)
It was a very memorable stay at this hotel. Rooms are beautifully decorated..nice and clean...moderately good view of the hills...but the best part are the staff - really nice guys at the restaurant and they treat you really good. Food is very good compared to the local restaurants. Try this hotel or Mayfair if you are in Gangtok. It's a lovely experience.
@ hotel Management - please work on wifi in the rooms as this is very important to stay in touch with business while on vacation and it's a real basic need.
Thank you ,
We stayed for a few nights in the Nor-Khill Hotel in Gangtok in Feb. 2014. The place reflects a lot of the old sikkimese class, no wonder as it used to be the guest house of the sikkimese king once. It is old world and some of the amenities are a bit tired but overall it is a hotel with style. Especially the lobby and the dining room reflects a lot of old sikkimese class and touch. The location is not perfect with the football stadium just in front but with good weather one gets benefitted with a stunning views to the mountains in the morning. The food is pretty good as is the service in the restaurant, though the internet connection is pretty weak and existing only in the lobby. Overall a nice place to stay in Gangtok.
This is an absolutely magical hotel with a real sense of history, first class service and beautiful rooms. This was our first hotel in Sikkim and it wasn't beaten! We can't wait to return. The friendly staff really did make it - especially the brilliant Ajay (hope we've spelt that correctly!)
Enorm vacker Maharaja Palace, kristallkronor, antika möbler i mycket bra skick!
