This home is NOT pet friendly. Ask about new hot tub (October 2023)! Our cozy vacation home is situated on 1.6 acres and sleeps 8\. Our home includes separate bedrooms and bathrooms on each floor. The upper level features our unique sleeping loft which is our namesake - Stargazer's Nook! This will be the favorite spot of your family and friends. Cozy up and enjoy the night sky! Our home offers an open living room, dining area, kitchen with breakfast bar, and a double-sided wood burning fireplace visible from all three areas. The main floor also features a bedroom with 2 twin beds, full bathroom with tub and shower, screened in porch and deck overlooking the heavily treed lot. Upstairs there is a Queen bedroom, a full bathroom w/shower, and a great workspace with desk and seating. The family room located on the lower level leads to a lower outdoor patio and wooded bliss. The lower level has an additional Queen bedroom, full bathroom w/shower and large family area for fun and games or just spreading out to relax and watch some TV. The yard offers great play space for playing catch, frisbee, bags and other outdoor games. There is a private hiking trail that winds through the forest behind the home. Enjoy the Hike! The home is centrally located in The Galena Territory just under 2 miles to the main entrance, Highland Restaurant, Country Store, and The General Golf Course. Or, in the other direction, just a little over a mile to the Owners Club with indoor/outdoor pools, sports courts, fitness center, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, business center, and much more. For the outdoor enthusiasts the Galena Territory also offers, Lake Galena with trophy fishing, Shenandoah Horseback Riding Center, miles & miles of nature trails. You will have access to the GTA Owners Club while staying with us. The indoor pool is open year-round and the outdoor pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. The club is an exclusive amenity that can be used by only Galena Territory property owners and their guests. The Owners' Club includes an indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool w/slides, a kiddie pool, fitness room, game room, indoor/outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, seasonal snack bar, free WiFi and outdoor playground. Don't forget to visit Lake Galena, The Shenandoah Riding Center and hiking trails throughout the 6,800-acre property. Please remember usage of the amenities is NEVER guaranteed. We do not discount or refund due to their closure. When you book a home with us we will require 30% down, this is a payment not a deposit. The full balance is due 14 days prior to check in. If you cancel prior to the 14 days you will receive the first payment less a $35 cancellation fee. At the 14 day mark, your stay will become non-refundable and dates cannot be adjusted. Your payments will automatically be processed to the card you placed on file at the time of booking. Your rental agreement (sent after booking) will reflect the due dates and amounts. Please NOTE: You will be required to sign an electronic rental agreement at the time of booking. We ask this be signed and filed within 48 hours of receiving to guarantee your reservation. You must be 25 or older at the time of booking and present the entire stay. Our cancellation policy is NOT flexible, we highly recommend travel insurance. Travel insurance is offered at the time of booking and up until 15 days prior to check in. The provider is CSA. Check in details are sent 3 days prior to your arrival to the email on file. This includes the home's address, the access code and other pertinent home/area information. Early check in is never guaranteed and cannot be considered until the night before or morning of your arrival. Extremely clean and well stocked kitchen. The location is close to the multiple golf courses, owners club with pool, and a short drive to downtown Galena. There were toys for the kids and games for all ages. The screened porch was a favorite, especially this time of year when the bugs are getting bad. My group did not, unfortunately, get to visit the community pool or any other amenities for the location, but everyone had an amazing time between visiting downtown Galena and having fun at the house. But unfortunately the house had some other issues - when we came in first night the and whole house had an awful smell (hard to describe like sewage mixed with cleaners), we tried hot tub next and it gave all of my family itchy skin and minor rashes, so I’m guessing hadn’t been cleaned or chemical treated in awhile. The neighborhood was neat and the drive out there was very pretty. Only downside was the distance from downtown/Main Street, but we set up transportation through a local service recommended by the rental company and it worked out very well. I’m sure there are a lot of activities closer to the house that we just didn’t have time explore during our short stay. The grill was dirty when we arrived and did not work to our satisfaction; it never got quite hot enough to roast dinner. There was a shortage of cooking implements, especially mixing bowls. If a party ate out the entire time, it would probably not notice these shortcomings, but we specifically wanted to cook our meals. A hot tub/Jacuzzi would be a nice addition. Move the two twin beds from the first floor bedroom to the second floor and bring that queen down to the first floor. The wifi went down frequently (at least twice per day), which was annoying. The television was difficult to figure out how to work; we brought our own Roku sticks and could not integrate them with that system.In short, if you are out all day and use the cottage to sleep, shower, and change clothes, it is excellent. If you are there to spend time with friends you have not seen in a while, there were always distractions. ##### Robert C. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay over a long weekend. One point to note: this home is property managed. There is a bedroom upstairs, and the "nook" is a queen bed. There is a bedroom on the main floor w/ twins, and a bedroom on the lower level. The beds were too firm for me, but we layered extra blankets and it helped but wish our bed was softer. The house could use some general updates but was very clean, which to me is more important than aesthetic. The bathrooms were very spacious, great for large families, and the kitchen had all that we needed to cook our meals. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, tossed ball in the front yard, foosball, and views at night from the nook (and outside if it's a clear night, we could see the Milky Way). We were bummed the grill didn't work when we were there, were hoping for our final BBQ of the season/year and had to fry our burgers instead. The house was in a nice location, there were houses around but still felt like it was a quiet road where we could stroll and enjoy the fall colors. It's very close - less than 5 minute drive - to the clubhouse, which we enjoyed playing pool, ping pong and more foosball. The drive is short to downtown Galena, under 15 minutes. Unfortunately it was hunting season and many of the scenic walks/overlooks were closed, and there was a major fair taking place, so it was really crowded everywhere, we'll adjust our timing next time but love this area. ##### janet m. The tree canopy was filled with birds; woodpeckers, blue jays, hummingbirds, etc. The kitchen was well-equipped. We also ventured into town and to the pool for a change of pace. Overall, the house had everything we needed and granted us time to refresh and reflect before returning to school or work.
