The apartment will comfortably sleep up to 8 people, with 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) A welcoming reception hall leads to the lounge and the property and has 5 separate balconies, the largest of which has a partial sea view and are all served by the sun at different times of the day. Newly restored parquet flooring throughout and ventilated window shutters combine to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the apartment. The apartment is family owned. Sarah is from the island of Madeira and prides herself on providing a clean and beautifully presented apartment. Located within the Savoy district of Funchal and only 5 -7 minute walk to the marina, centre and the CR7 Museum, Santa Catarina Park and Funchal Municipal Gardens. Many of Funchal's fine restaurants are within a few minutes walk as well as the Casino and Savoy hotel. A two minute walk to Avenida do Infante is served by many bus routes to other parts of the island. Sarah had kindly arranged for a bottle of Madeira wine to be lest for us. The flat was beautifully clean. The beds were neat and clean, and the one we slept in, the main bedroom was comfortable. Overall our stay was very pleasant. The kitchen, as has been mentioned elsewhere, is awaiting a total refurbishment. Unfortunately, there were no supplies in the kitchen, for example, olive oil. Salt, pepper, clothes washing, washing up liquid (there was a bit of this) Simple things like this, would have made the flat more welcoming. The main shower did not work and we had to all use the ensuite to shower which was inconvenient and was only provided with one towel each for 9 days and the dryer was not operational so we could not do laundry. We enjoyed our walks to Downtown, the Lido and Madeira Forum but there are buses available nearby. We did have one or two maintenance hiccups whilst we were there but the Owner was easy to contact, made steps to rectify the issues and very receptive of any suggestions that we made. Sarah was such a great host always on hand to answer any questions we had and arranged airport transfers for us with the lovely Joao. The location is fantastic in between the Old and the New parts of Funchal, 5 minutes walk down to the Marina Promenade, 5 minutes up to Santa Catarina Park, a few minutes to the nearest bus stop, with an excellent supermarket at the top of the street, lots of bars and restaurants too numerous to mention on your doorstep. The apartment is spotless, comfy beds, lots of outside balcony spaces, we lost each other some mornings whilst having coffee, the only negative was the kitchen it could do with a refresh but we were on holiday so didn't use it much. The kitchen was large and had all the appliances and dishes we needed for our two week stay. Sarah informed us the kitchen would be upgraded this winter which will be a nice improvement. The location worked very well for us. Buses run to downtown and out to the natural pools up on the main road. It was also very easy to walk to downtown, about 10 to 15 minutes. The little supermarket at the top of the road was very handy. The neighbourhood was lively and had lots to offer. The internet was strong and reliable. Our communication with Sarah was very good and we were grateful that she was able to quickly sort out a little problem we had at the beginning of our stay.
