This is one of the grape varieties used for the production of Madeira wine. Verdelho is part of a group of properties called "The Wine Lodges", located in the heart of the city, in a historic building, which houses one of the most important Madeira wine cellars, owned by the iconic Blandy family. With a decoration thought to detail, where elegance coexists in symbiosis with the building's history, this property offers excellent comfort and luxury details without equal. The flat has generous spaces, making it perfect for family holidays or friends. Located on the third floor of the building, in its total area we find a master bedroom with a double bed and a guest bedroom with two single beds. In the spacious living room of this flat we find a sofa bed with capacity for two people. The property has a balcony with a fantastic view over the bay of Funchal. This property accommodates a maximum of six people. Wi-Fi available in all areas of the house. There is no lift and no private parking. AREA The property is located in the noble and central area of Funchal. From this property, you will be able to know all the downtown and main points of interest. This flat is situated right next to the famous Municipal Garden of Funchal and very close to the Funchal Marina and the Municipal Theatre. In the same building of the property you can visit one of the most important Madeira wine lodges Blandy's Wine Lodges is open daily for tastings and guided tours. In these same lodges you may get to know and purchase a wide range of wines, which you may later pick up at the airport after passing through customs. Guests of this property have one free ticket per couple. Another must is the bar and restaurant "1811 Wine Bar", which is located in the same building. Here, you can enjoy unique delicacies accompanied by excellent wines. Our guests are granted an exclusive discount in this fantastic space. In the city centre there is plenty of information about all kinds of activities you can do during your holiday: cultural activities, radical activities, activities linked to nature... whatever the purpose of your visit to Madeira Island! GETTING AROUND The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport. If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address. ACCESS TO PROPERTY You have access to all areas of the property. INTERACTION We are always available to help or answer questions. OTHER OBSERVATIONS \- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card). \- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property. It was clean, well equipped and spacious. You have to allow for the fact that it's an old building and it's three floors up to the apartment and the apartment has rooms on four levels. Water pressure a bit low but everything worked. The location was ideal for us being in the centre of Funchal. There are lots of restaurants nearly. Excellent Wi-Fi, a big living room, very comfortable beds. Two bathrooms, But not on the same level as sleeping rooms. Everything you need in the kitchen. Pretty expensive, but rather a good value for money. Not recommended for people having problems with going up and down the stairs ##### Wojciech J. First, the positives - this is a lovely apartment in terms of space and fittings and it is an absolutely fantastic place in terms of location. Downsides - it misses a few simple things such as waste bins in the bedrooms, the cooker hood was not working, a light bulb was out in the living room, the bathrooms are very functional and rather old-fashioned. One other big issue (not for us but could be for other visitors) to get to the bedrooms it is 68 steps from floor to apartment entrance to bedroom. When you do this 10 times a day you know it! The only other major gripe was that we happened to be booked in when the Festival of Cider was on in the centre of town. Unfortunately this involved very loud music on a few nights coming from the venue less than 150m away. We challenged An Island Apart about the lack of warning and they claimed not to have known. Given this was a major festival I don't think that can be true. So beware local festivals! ##### Andrew H. It’s a very nice apartment on multiple levels so lots of stairs. Need to go to the bathroom during the night? You’ll need to go up and down a half flight of stairs. OK, so not a big deal if you are young. Before check-in, I was getting up to 4 emails a day from them. Then when we needed the coffee maker fixed, complained about no water in the bathroom sink, and a non-flushing toilet, I heard crickets. I paid for parking and was given a key card that stopped working after two days when I paid for four. At 6 am, I went to get out of the garage and the card didn’t work. Luckily someone came in and used their key to let me out. Otherwise my friend would have had to pay for a taxi to the airport. Other than that, it’s a great location, nicely refurbished very old apartment. ##### Theresa M. ---
