Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Funagawa?
The best area to stay in Funagawa is around Funagawa Port, particularly the streets immediately adjacent to the waterfront.

This area is the heart of Funagawa, offering direct access to the port and its activities. You'll find a selection of local eateries and shops within a short walk, many specialising in fresh seafood. The main street running parallel to the port is easily navigable, allowing for leisurely strolls along the water.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate this area. Its proximity to the port means you can enjoy scenic views, watch the fishing boats, and easily access boat tours if available.
When is the best time to go to Funagawa?
The best time to go to Funagawa is during late spring (May to early June) or autumn (late September to October).

Late spring offers pleasant temperatures and generally clear skies, which are ideal for exploring the Funagawa Port and the surrounding coastal areas. You'll find many of the local seafood restaurants are in full swing, offering fresh seasonal catches. It's also a lovely time for scenic drives along the Oga Peninsula.

Autumn brings cooler, comfortable weather and the beautiful colours of the changing leaves, particularly in the more rural parts of the Oga Peninsula. This season is great for those who enjoy hiking or exploring the natural landscapes without the summer heat or winter chill.
