(1,279 reviews) The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive with a few exceptions. The food was great with lots of options. The property is beautiful, however the rooms are in need of a reno which is apparently happening this year. The $600 credit for each room is misleading as it is in the form of coupons that can only be redeemed for certain things.The spa was a disappointment. The massage was good but overpriced. The steam room was not functioning, and there was no communication as such. The Jacuzzi was not functioning fully either. The men’s change room had no hot water in the shower and there was a painting crew in there during regular hours. The painters were also going in and out of the ladies change room at their leisure which was incredibly uncomfortable. We have not stayed at a Riu before and not sure we will again. We can't say enough positive things about this wonderful resort....everything was perfect! The town of Las Catalinas is spotless, safe and on the ocean. Short walk to town or Casa offers complimentary rides there and back. We will be back!
