The Palapa Pool House was by far the best vacation rental we have ever had the pleasure of staying in! Although we rented the house to spend time at the beach, we never left the house. You donā€™t need to! The backyard makes you feel like youā€™re staying on your own private island without the sand, other peopleā€™s music, and hassle of carrying all your stuff back and forth. The fence and gates made it so easy to make sure the dogs didnā€™t wonder off. The bathroom downstairs and wet bar next to the TV patio area made it the ideal place to just chill by the pool. The commercial ice maker was the icing on the cake! One of the kids even asked if we could stay an extra night, they had so much fun. Were there mosquitoes, yes. Were there flies, yes. But youā€™re on the gulf coast of Texas. You canā€™t escape them if you spend anytime outside. The only thing I could suggest to the owner is the installation of a fan outside above the couches. Otherwise, 10 stars!!! This home had everything we could have needed! The pool and all outdoor areas were amazing! The inside was very comfortable and enjoyable. The only negative I can say is that if you get queasy easily, this is not the home for you. This one was everything I needed. A great Quiet place with Beautiful sunrises & sunsets. Everything EXACTLY as describe. There is a small toll to get over to the island which was unexpected but if you went back and forth it would add up its 2.00\. Not many grocery stores near,at least what we could find and very casual restaurants. The property was great and probably even better once the pool is complete! Positives: The property itself is very nice. The outdoor area, yard and pool are spectacular. The home was comfortable with everything you need. The Ice machine was a super nice add on for sure. The enclosed fencing adds an extra level of privacy. Negatives: The mosquitos were some of the worst I have every experienced in my life and made it impossible for the family to enjoy the evening hours outdoors. Once the sun sets, you are swarmed. We spent an hour a day spraying the yard with bug spray every evening just to allow us to grill for 45 minutes. Bring your food as this area of the beach has less grocery stores for last minute items compared to other areas of the coast. When I stay on the coast I look forward to the wind and waves and the sounds of the water. Not at this site, limited wind, no waves, no coast sounds. No trash service, load up all the nasty sacks of garbage and take them to the dumpster yourself in your SUV. The house behind the property is under construction. Saturday morning, 8am, hammering, electric saws, etc. On the other hand, you dont have ability to sleep in as the window coverings let in 80% of the sunlight at 7am anyway. Overall, house and pool are great. Location, not so much. ##### Kent K. My husband and I stayed here with our Golden Retriever for our elopement in the beginning of October. The house was amazing, pictures didnā€™t do it justice! The only recommendations I have is to be careful with the deck as I wrote the rental agency that there were numerous pieces of wood that had already rotted & was going to give out. We adored our stay at this lovely and CLEAN beach house w stylish decor! The crow's nest was a lovely jewel in this house where we spent much time hanging out and reading! It was a cool temp up there too as it is properly air conditioned! Kayaks are like new w a launch right there!! All new appliances! Carpet looked new too! Best time was mornings on the front porch w the cool breeze listening to the grass hut above. Location is perfect...walking distance to a great sunset beach w shells (no swimming there bc of the current), 2min walk to community fishing dock w great fishing and night lights! 5 min drive to Beach Access 5 which was very uncrowed and lovely! 35 min drive to Galveston...enjoyed 2 afternoons there :) Steve the property manager was one of the nicest men we have met! It was clean, well kept, had everything you needed in the kitchen to cook. The outside porch was wonderful. The home had an outside shower for adults and hoses to rinse of the dogs after coming back from the beach. ##### Tony D. The house was stocked with everything you need and everything looked brand new. A great little welcome package on the table when we came in. A short drive to the beach. 30 minutes to Moody Gardens. 5 minute drive to Point West Beach Club for dinner or takeout. We loved the house and would stay here again. ##### Leah Q. Was great for a beach get away. Very clean and inviting when we arrived. There were four of us, my brother, sister and husband and we had plenty of room and space for all. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cook ware. We rented a golf cart and rode on the beach daily. Made the short trip to Galveston for a lunch on the strand. Great location, quiet neighborhood.
