"If you’re looking for a vacation to take you out of the rat race and just clear your mind. This cozy cabin is the place to go. It is 30 minutes from the main highway so plan accordingly with food and such, but once you’re there, there is no reason to leave. Great experience and the host was very informative. "The house was the perfect home built lovingly by the owner. The views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range were spectacular. We hiked Zapata Falls, Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge & The Great Sand Dunes National Park with our border collies. The owner gave us lots of local information plus our dogs loved his dog! All had a blast running & chasing sticks on the property every evening. Sunsets were awesome!"

I messaged the property owner via the VRBO app the day before check-in and then texted the morning of our arrival because I hadn't received any check-in instructions. Onsite property manager Reed was friendly and welcoming and quick to share helpful tips about the area."

"we stayed on this property in July 2023. We had two couples and one individual. This property was cramped and not clean, and also very dark downstairs. The beds t downstairs were very uncomfortable. Bathroom downstairs very small. The cook wear was very old. I actually found mouse droppings in the crockpot that I was hoping to use. Mouse traps several places. Towels very old and raggedy. The upstairs was roomy, comfy bed, but had issues with the toilet flushing and no towels supplied up there....

"We had an amazing stay and were one of the closest homes to the park. House is very remote and secluded - I considered this a plus as we weren’t looking to go out to dinner, etc. Be sure to do your grocery shopping in Alamosa prior to arrival. Barb was super responsive and the home was clean and spacious. The back porch has perfect views of the mountains and sand dunes and the night sky is breathtaking with no light pollution! I highly recommend this if your looking for a quiet spot to get away...

"We spent our time at Cuchara Park and this home was the perfect location for us. The Host goes above and beyond here. I highly recommend this place - I will still hear next time we come through La Veta. The house has everything you need! Perfect for a man like me who loves chopping wood and having fires. The inside had a big kitchen for the wives. The rooms have tons of board games for the kids. You will love this place; I know we did."
