About this property
No.1 The Old Convent.
No.1 & 2 The Old Convent are both ground floor apartments which have been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard but keeping some of the character and adding modern touches such as central heating, insulation and double glazing! No.3 & No.4 are first floor apartments. The Old Convent is situated in the picturesque village of Fort Augustus on the southern tip of Loch Ness, which is virtually the geographical center of the Highlands. A perfect base for exploring the spectacular scenery and amenities that the area has to offer. We, Felicity & Chris are local and live in what was the priests quarters when the building was originally a church and are able to suggest many wonderful day trips combining superb scenic drives and walks, with castles, brochs and ruins that you probably won't find in any guide book. Fort Augustus is the perfect place to relax with a short walk to the center of the village where you can find grocery shops, butcher, post office, ATM, petrol station and several pubs and restaurants. You can take a boat trip up Loch Ness or simply chill on the canal side watching the boats negotiate the locks!
The Old Convent was originally built as a church in 1842, then converted into a convent 'St Scholastica's Priory' in 1891, the nun's took residence in 1892 until 1922 when the remaining nun's were moved to Holme Eden Abbey. Some of the nun's are buried in the graveyard at Fort Augustus Abbey, half a mile from the convent on the shores of Loch Ness.
We are close to main road with the convent woods to rear giving you privacy, and a fantastic view of golf course and Ben Tee to front.
If you wish to bring your dog please ask first. We accept most small/medium dogs but the are not allowed in the bedroom or on the furniture. We have spare dog towels if needed.
The property is ready for guests arrival from 4pm. We ask that guests leave by 10am on day of departure as we need time to clean for next guests. If an apartment is already booked for your preferred dates please ask as there are four apartments No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4

A charming place tastefully renovated by the owners and toasty warm even in the middle of winter. A home away from home, only better. Super clean. A delightful highland getaway. Such a shame we had to leave just before Christmas as the tree in the living room was just lovely!
Excellent place to stay and would highly recommend it. We were in unit one and it was very spacious, clean, well appointed and comfortable! We had a bit of car / tire trouble and it was very easy to stay in touch with Felicity and Chris regarding our ever changing arrival times. They also have a lot of local knowledge to share about things to do, places to eat and how to travel the area. Can’t recommend this venue enough. If I’m ever in the area again, it’ll be the only place I stay.
We stayed at this amazing VRBO for 3 nights while touring Scotland. Chris & Felicity are the perfect hosts who have created an absolutely wonderful home away from home for their guests. The restoration work on this beautiful old convent in Fort Augustus is nothing short of gorgeous right down to the smallest of details.
The very comfortable accommodations provided everything anyone could possibly ask for including map and information books for the area. Chris & Felicity gave us with so many "special" travel suggestions for areas that we would otherwise never have known about or travelled to see...and for this we are especially grateful. Fort Augustus was the perfect location to serve as a jumping off point to visit Fort William, Isle of Skye, Inverness, Portree etc. and Felicity is extremely responsive to all inquiries from pre-booking and helping us choose which unit to select to recommendations during our travels while staying here.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Convent and Chris & Felicity to anyone looking to stay in the area - definitely a highlight for us while visiting Scotland.
Thank you!!!!
The detail put into this property was amazing. Chris' custom doors, tables, drapes, and copper shower stall were simply wonderful and gave the place a special feel. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, and spacious. The shower was very nice as well. The free on-site parking was a great bonus. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Amazing place to stay
What a fantastic place to stay in and explore the highlands! Felicity was warm and welcoming and the instruction booklet was informative and offered great suggestions on places to see. The Road Atlas was incredibly helpful.
Have to share that of all the places that I stayed in my three week trip to the UK, this one was by far my favorite. Would I stay again, absolutely! Would I recommend, most definitely! Thanks so much for the opportunity to stay in this magical location. Denise-Canada

Can’t fault our stay. The apartment is so comfortable with such craftsmanship throughout the restoration of the old convent. Couldn’t be better placed to
Visit highlands. Second time in the convent. At no 3 before. No 1 is even better. Will be back to see how felicity and Chris progress. All this AND dog friendly.

Clean, comfortable and quiet which is just what I need.
Found the apartments through a dog friendly site, the booking process was easy, information from the owner's Felicity and Chris is very accurate. The apartment is exactly as photos, clean tidy and although it's a work in progress everything functions, it was perfect for the two of us and our Springers who had a great time exploring the grounds. I have no issues with recommending the apartments to anyone looking for dog friendly accommodation in Fort Augustus, which incidentally is a great little village.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing. Welcoming, friendly hosts who live on site ready to help you settle in and offer advice on local area. Would highly recommend and would love to return. Thanks to Chris and Felicity.

Modern Apartment in a great Village take in the nature and/or tourism, choice is yours!
Thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of Felicity & Chris, even storing our refrigerated food from previous apartment until our check-in time whist we toured elsewhere for the day. Nothing was a problem; the apartment met our expectations 100%. Light & bright with modern conveniences, and an easy read manual if you need help. The manual also contained suggestions on where & what to do during your stay, and Felicity even gave us food recommendations in the village if we wished a break from self catering; her suggestions were spot on and we enjoyed a fantastic meal at "The Lovat Hotel". 5 star apartment, 5 star meal, close to town but far enough away from the tourist mayhem. Highly recommend a visit to Fort Augustus. Hosts Felicity and Chris have obviously worked hard (and still working hard) to provide a memorable experience for their guests. We enjoyed every day of our 7 day stay.

Stylish and comfortable
We stayed 5 nights in No. 3 and found it very comfortable, stylish and spotless. Felicity and Chris provided everything we needed - whether we had a cosy day in or were out exploring the highlands. We appreciated the tips on places to visit. The kitchen was well equipped. The property is on a reasonably busy road so it was a little noisy when the windows were open. Overall, we were impressed with the quality of the renovation and the friendly hospitality, and had a very pleasant stay.

Lovely stay with lots to see!
We had a delightful stay at The Old Convent. The building and living space were beautiful and we had everything we needed for our stay. It was close enough to easily walk to and from shops and restaurants in town and a great base for enjoying the Highlands. Thanks to Felicity and Chris for a warm welcome and detailed ideas of what to see and how to get around the Highlands.

Wonderful style, quirky features well executed. Felt like a home with everything one would need.
Chris & Felicity were lovely hosts and the accommodation is just perfect - quirky, stylish, and well maintained.
A short walk into the centre of the village with direct access to the canal and many local walks.
