DO NOT do late check-in at this property!!! I couldn’t get into my room and had to drive an hour away at 1 AM to find somewhere to sleep.
I called ahead per the instructions to let them know I would be arriving after office hours, and they sent me instructions for a smartphone app to use to unlock the door. I downloaded the app and it seemed like it was working, but when I arrived at the motel that night our door recognized the app but flashed red and wouldn’t let us in. We tried extensively to contact them but they didn’t give us an after-hours or emergency number, nor was there one posted at the motel, or even at what I think is their sister property across town (which the sign on their door recommended calling).
We wasted about half an hour trying the door, calling them, and trying the few other motels in town, but everyone was either closed or booked up, and we had to backtrack an hour to Port Angeles to find a chain hotel that was open and had a room.
The only positive thing I have to say is that they were quick to refund me when I called the next day. Maybe this was just a fluke, but it was one that was avoidable with better processes and safeguards, and it cost me a significantly pricier hotel room and hours of driving at the end of an already long day.
In short, if you stay here, don’t risk this experience. Call ahead first to insist on an after-hours number in case you’re delayed and do not under any circumstances rely on their app to get into your room.
