"This is a gem in a secluded location, it's like going back in time, the restaurant is fabulous, the swimming hole next to the hotel is unforgettable, the overall vibe awesome."

"I had such a lovely stay with Manuel and Sigrid! A B&B style property and their home, I joined them for dinner that evening too.
My French is stumbling but between that and Google translate we had a very nice evening and the food was great.
I arrived on my motorcycle and Manuel organised secure garaged parking for me. Apparently they often host cyclists and bikers and were very welcoming.
So a lovely air-conditioned room, lovely hosts and great food. Recommended!"

"A nice, good value hotel in a great location for walking, medieval towns and the Yellow Train. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were disappointed that the spa was closed while we were there (staffing problems). The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable although our shower was a bit cramped and awkward to use."

"Casa9 was a lovely small hotel and met our expectations. The majority of our stay was positive with only 2 small drawbacks, a cold shower one night and the timer on the bathroom light staying on for too long at night. Very peaceful and relaxing and we would come back."

Wonderful location for exploring the local countryside. Biking and hiking seem to have become immensely popular in recent years. A car for me would have been helpful but I needed a rest and the peaceful scented garden was truly heavenly. Lovely old furniture, healthy breakfasts, near the railway station. Warm welcome and kind hosts. A gem.

Very charming place. Friendly staff, great home made breakfast and beautiful views. Very friendly people in the village also. Sad that we only could stay one night over Easter as we were a family travelling by car further south. Place definitely worth coming back. Decent space on the property ground to park your car. Beautiful garden with pond with fish in it.

Belesta is a very small village, near Perpignan but feels quite remote and wild, very quiet but a lovely base to explore from - exceptional rooms and exceptional food.

Fab place. Need some money spend on the decor but actually that adds to the grandeur of the place. Great swimming, you could spend all day there. Lovely service, everyone smiling. Highly recommend!

This is a lovely little hotel, just a short walk to the town centre, with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. There was a problem with a broken lock on the door of the room but the owners fixed it the next day. They also would have let us use the pool and leave our cases after check out. Ive already recommended this hotel to friends and I'd stay again too

We stayed at the Kyriad, Perpignan Sud on our way through France to Spain. The reception was friendly and helpful. Reception closs at 11pm and the gates are locked though I gather access is facilitated by your room key. The back pedestrian gate remained open all night. There is no restaurant but a 10% discount is available at the nearby Hippopotamus restaurant and the Buffalo restaurant. Breakfast is available for 10 euro each, we didn't take this ourselves. The bed was very comfortable, the...

Finestret is a small, tranquil village, so the best area to stay is generally within the village itself for convenience and access to its local charm.
The village centre of Finestret is quite compact, with its historic church, a small general store, and a few local eateries forming the core. The streets are narrow and winding, typical of a traditional French village, and many properties offer stunning views of the surrounding Pyrenees mountains and the Canigou massif.
For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, staying in a gîte or a small hotel within Finestret village is ideal. You'll be able to enjoy quiet evenings, explore the village on foot, and have direct access to local walking paths. It's a wonderful base for those who enjoy hiking or simply relaxing in a beautiful, natural setting.
Families might also find Finestret appealing, particularly if they appreciate a calm environment away from crowds. Many holiday rentals offer private gardens or outdoor spaces, providing children with room to play.
When is the best time to go to Finestret?
The best time to go to Finestret is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are fewer.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, late spring offers comfortable temperatures and the landscape is lush with greenery. You'll find the days are long, making it great for exploring the surrounding Pyrenees foothills without the intense heat of summer. It's a great time for couples to enjoy scenic walks and picnics.
Early autumn is also an excellent choice, particularly for travellers who appreciate cooler, crisp air and the changing colours of the foliage. The grape harvest often begins around this time, offering a chance to see local traditions. The weather is still generally sunny, making it ideal for relaxing at a café or enjoying a leisurely drive through the countryside. This period is well-suited for solo travellers seeking a tranquil escape and a taste of local life.
While summer (July and August) brings the warmest weather, it also sees the highest number of visitors, especially families, which can lead to busier attractions.
