Step out the front door and there it is: the Elk River across the way, with Mount Fernie and the Three Sisters towering above. The provincial park’s trails are just across the highway, and you’re perfectly placed between town and the ski hill. Inside, soaring ceilings, a gas fireplace and three queen beds give six people room to spread out, including a loft tucked under the peaked roof. Grill on the deck, then pick tomorrow’s plan: river, trails, slopes or a long lazy breakfast.
Climb the stairs to the front door and take a second to soak in the view. There are two doors waiting at the top. One opens into the main unit, and the other leads straight into the first bedroom.
The entry hallway has coat hooks and a spot for boots and shoes, plus a closet with the in-suite washer and dryer, an iron and an ironing board.
The first bedroom opens off the hallway. It has a queen bed, a ceiling fan, a TV and its own en-suite with a shower. It also has a private exterior entrance, so early starters and late returners can come and go without waking anyone, and a connecting door through to the rest of the unit. A mini-fridge and microwave make it easy to grab a quick snack.
At the end of the hallway, the main living space opens up under a soaring ceiling. The kitchen is set up for real cooking, with a full-size fridge, stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker, plus dishes, cutlery and cookware for six. The cupboard is stocked with oil, salt, pepper and locally roasted coffee beans. Three stools pull up to the breakfast bar, and the dining table seats four more by the window. From here, patio doors lead out to the private deck, with a BBQ, an outdoor table and chairs, and mountain views to go with dinner. The lounge centres on a gas fireplace with a TV above it, and there’s plenty of seating for winding down after a big day.
The second bedroom sits just off the living area, with a queen bed, TV, a ceiling fan, a closet and a chest of drawers. It has its own door through to the family bathroom, which has a tub/shower combo, locally made body wash and shampoo, and hotel-quality towels.
Head up the stairs to the loft, an open space under the peaked roof with a log railing that looks down over the living room. It has a queen bed, a TV, side tables, a closet and a ceiling fan, plus a desk with two chairs if work tags along, set in front of a window that looks out to the mountains. Note that the loft is open, with no door. All the beds are dressed in hotel-quality linens.
Air conditioning keeps things comfortable on warm days, and the ski lockers just outside the unit are yours to use during your stay.
