The shower room was very clean and the shower was nice hot and powerful. We paid extra for the breakfast. Bel Ami

8/10 Good

"The hotel is charming and in a lovely setting on the river. It feels like they have recently updated the rooms and bathrooms but the carpets are horrendous. When you walk into the hallways the stains are so bad that I didn't want to stay there and was immediately worried about the rooms. The rooms were nice but with the same terrible carpet. FIrst impressions matter and it is a bad first impression. The restaurant is wonderful, breakfast was great with views of the river. No elevator to the second floor but the staff helped with the bags."

Mercure Maintenon

8/10 Good

"The breakfast was amazing and the restaurant is truly original with the biggest " cheese dome" in the world. The big problem I had was that the rooms are not equipped with a mini bar which is a must at any time of the year but more so during a heat wave. I was upgraded to a room with a tiny fridge and no alcohol in it. There was no vending machine either. The underground parking is very convenient with a direct elevator to the reception area."

L'Epi Hotel

8/10 Good

"This is a really comfortable hotel in a very convenient location, right on the edge of town close to major roads and not too far from the station. The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff are very friendly. The food is also good and reasonably priced. We stayed 3 nights and the ONLY downside for us was that on the second and third mornings there was no milk available at breakfast for cereal and tea. Our request was met with a mild apology and shrug. We mentioned this to the manager and suggested that perhaps someone could go and fetch some for the following day from the huge supermarket a couple of hundred metres away and he said this wasn’t possible, so there was no milk the following morning either!! This was such a weird situation, and if this hadn’t happened we would have given the hotel an overwhelmingly positive review. Special mention for the young lady serving dinner on the evenings we were there-she was lovely!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Fermaincourt?

The best area to stay in Fermaincourt is the village centre, particularly around the Place de l'Église.

This is the historic heart of Fermaincourt, offering a peaceful and picturesque setting. The village centre is characterised by its traditional stone houses, narrow lanes, and the prominent Église Saint-Martin. You'll find a few local shops and a delightful boulangerie here, superb for picking up fresh pastries in the morning.

Couples looking for a relaxing and authentic French getaway will find the village centre ideal. It's a wonderful base for gentle strolls through the countryside or enjoying a quiet evening at a local restaurant. The area provides a genuine taste of rural French life without being isolated.

For those seeking a bit more space and seclusion, the immediate outskirts of Fermaincourt, within a short drive of the village centre, offer charming gîtes and converted farmhouses.

When is the best time to go to Fermaincourt?

The best time to visit Fermaincourt is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are fewer.

During these months, you'll experience comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region's châteaux and gardens without the intense heat of summer. The countryside is particularly lovely in spring with everything in bloom, or in autumn when the leaves change colour, offering beautiful scenery for leisurely drives or walks.

Summer (July and August) is also a popular time, offering the warmest weather and a full calendar of local festivals and events. However, it's also the busiest period, meaning more visitors at popular attractions and potentially higher prices for accommodation. If you don't mind a livelier atmosphere and booking a bit further in advance, summer can still be a wonderful time to visit.
