Quiet Spacious Property in Newport Harbor/Saugatuck Douglas

  • Our house is located in Newport Harbor, a peaceful quiet location very close to Douglas and Saugatuck downtowns and to the Douglas and Saugatuck beaches. With wide open spaces in the front and the back, it is pleasurable for early rises and sunset watchers. The sun rises behind the Kalamazoo River and the deck looks at a pond where the sun sets.
    The location is also great for bicycling and canoeing. We have 4 single person kayaks, a 3 seat canoe and a dock to launch them into the Kalamazoo River leading to the Saugatuck Harbor area, and Michigan Lake. The beaches and Saugatuck is 3 miles if one wants to bicycle.
    With four spacious bedrooms, each with a walk in closet, a large living room with a vaulted ceiling it can accommodate large groups up to 10 people. The full kitchen and outside grill areas will add convenience to your stay.

My family and I loved this property. Spacious, with a good sized living room with a fireplace. We spent a lot of time in this room, hanging out with a fire going. It's right next to the dining room and kitchen, so we could still talk with whomever was cooking each day. The home is bright and sunny throughout. The view from the front is a lovely, slow moving river. We had a direct view of nesting swans. The back view off of the spacious deck is a charming pond with birds and frogs singing each night. The light pollution is low in this area, so the view of the stars is great. The neighborhood is very quiet and well kept. Saugatuck is just a few minutes drive for shopping and dining and Holland is only 20 minutes away. I highly recommend Dairy Days ice cream and Woosah Art and Coffee, both in Saugatuck. Quintessential Michigan establishments.

Great Location and Price

Great stay in Douglas

The pictures don’t quite do it justice. Great space. This is perfect for multi-generational stays because of the first floor bed and bath. Our kids loved the huge backyard and the tree swing. We saw lots of beautiful wildlife in the backyard and we were close to all that Douglas and Saugatuck have to offer. Wonderful stay!

Annual Friend Trip to MI

We had a great trip. The house was perfect for our large group. The kids loved playing yard games outside, playing tag around the house, and climbing trees. The adults enjoyed the large sunny deck. We all enjoyed the kayaks, very easy to transport to the water. Loved the quiet neighborhood, a great get away from the hecktic downtown.

Wonderful home for families

My wife, her family and I stayed here for a weekend and this was a wonderful home with many nice sized rooms. It was very clean and in a beautiful neighborhood. It was close enough to downtown Saugatuck and every other neighboring areas we visited (like Holland). Selim was very friendly and quick to respond to any messages I had. I will definitely stay here in the future.

Nice quiet neighborhood, easy access to several towns in area. House can be a bit loud-sound really carries throughout. When walking upstairs the downstairs can hear it, especially in downstairs bedroom. Kitchen pretty well stocked with pans, plates etc except for baking sheet. Back patio very nice and lots of chairs! Overall, we had a great time and would recommend!

Family vacation

House was beautiful , very clean and convenient to the town. The living room ceiling fan was broken and could not be fixed while we were there. We made the owner aware but felt this should have been addressed before we arrived. It was very hot and could have used it. He was very apologetic however and genuinely felt bad. Beautiful neighborhood and very quiet away from the noise. Highly recommend .

Very clean, tastefully decorated and fully stocked house which had everything we needed for a restful few days in the Saugatuck area. Having access to canoes and kayaks that we could use in the Kalamazoo River nearby was a plus. Selim was responsive to our messages and check-in and check-out were a breeze. Highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

We were happy with the spaciousness and cleanliness of the property! The only detail with which we struggled was locking the front door from the outside with the key that was provided. We were unable to exit the property from the front due to the safety risk of being unable to lock the front the door.

The property was wonderful. There was plenty of space - including indoor and outdoor table space for games. The Kalamazoo river runs through the neighborhood - so we enjoyed kayaking. The property includes a large backyard so we enjoyed a wiffle ball game with kids and adults. We were within 1-20 minutes of several beaches and enjoyed a sunset over Lake Michigan. The nearby small towns are wonderful for exploring and getting coffee and there are some bike trails.We were less than 10 minutes from Crane Orchard and enjoyed picking cherries on the first day of the picking season.The host was very good with communications. Rooms were clean, etc. Thank you for a wonderful place to create memories with family.

We had a wonderful stay while visiting Saugatuck! The house was perfect for our family, with spacious living areas, plenty of room for the kids, and a peaceful atmosphere. The large outdoor space was a great bonus for relaxing and playing. The location was excellent, close to everything we wanted to do while still feeling private and quiet. We'd definitely stay here again!

Very nice quiet area. Lovely house that served the needs of our extended family for Hope College graduation weekend. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, kitchen is not huge but well equipped. We took full advantage of the nice outdoor deck and yard.
